Re: NCAA Football 12 Roster Glitch Confirmed, Patch to Address Concerns

I think I may be echoing the sentiment of many that have issue with the slight nuisance of the roster bug. I do not have any issues with waiting a few weeks until a patch is available. College football season is about a month away. My issue is with the uncertainty regarding the hard work put into named rosters by many. The unknown is frustrating, because at least named rosters. Could be enhanced during this waiting time for the patch if it could be applie.

Anyone know a timetable for when the next patch will be?

This game has potential but I've yet to make it through and actual game with the named rosters without the game freezing on me or a pop-up saying "can't read disc". Just seems to be getting ridiculous, since what's the point of spending the money for a game that doesn't work? Have tried installing it on my HD, but nothing seems to work and my 360 plays other games without a problem.

Starting out has not been Michigan's issue the last couple years (5-1 and 5-0 last two years). Its only winning one or two games in conference games that hurt them.

With that said, I think they will be a legit 8 win team this year.

If I were a roster namer, that is exactly what I would be doing, just slowly without heat, updating and perfecting the rosters. So that the day thae patch comes out, these guys can roll out the perfect rosters and make for an incredibly awesome day. My guess (and Im no CPU nerd by any stretch) is that this is some sort of coding issue and will not affect the roster files in any way... So hopefully Buck and Gator are just or will to decide to just tweak and fix what they made. =)

Re: NCAA Football 12 Roster Glitch Confirmed, Patch to Address Concerns

I called customer service today because my Online Dynasty will not advance past week 1. They said it is a known issue and that the problem is with the rosters. I eventually got sent to a higher up guy for tech support and he told me that they have no ETA on when a patch will be available. His exact words were, "I'd like to say it would just be another week but we really don't know how long it will take.".

He suggested to me deleting my roster file and then trying to advance the week but since I used a roster that removed guys like Terrelle Pryor it won't work.

Lastly, and hopefully this isn't a repeat, but on either NCAA 09 or on 10 this exact same thing happened. Once EA release a patch, it made all rosters that had been made pre-patch obsolete. I hope that doesn't happen again.

I actually look at this "glitch" differently. If I was EA and I keep getting lawsuits thrown at me by college athletes trying to get paid off of their likelyness in the game, I would put this so called glitch in the game on purpose. If michigan's QB without a name is a scrambler with the same number as the real michigan QB, I understand why his tendancy would change when you add a name to him. Because if an editor names him he will give him the real persons name meaning michigans QB has an arguement that he is in a video game and SHOULD be paid for his likelyness. But when the tendancy changes from scambler to balanced, now Denard Robinson doesn't have a case because in real life he's a scrambler and on the game the player is a balanced QB.

Long story short, I don't care about this so called glitch because I don't play play now games vs the cpu so after 5 seasons of dynasty I have all fake players anyway.

***edit*** I haven't had any issues with freezing are anything like that so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones

The bug still impacts you because all those fake players are impacted by the bug and between the time they are recruited and the time they appear on your roster many of their tendencies flip. So you will have players rated for scrambling that have a bugged tendency and don't scramble and pocket rated passers that take off all the time. This bug impacts everyone except those that only play exhibition games and don't care about named players.

Since I am starting a dynasty at a 1* as an OC most of the named players are going to be gone by the time I get to better programs so I dont really care about having real names either, but the fact that from year 2 on my game is going to be bugged prevents me from starting a dynasty.

I'm not sure this affected buckeye's rosters for me.

Played Nebraska last night as Wisconsin and Taylor Martinez was running all over the place. Then I checked the stats and Denard is on pace for 1000 yards rushing.

What's weird is that on the Depth Chart screen it says D. Rob's a Balanced passer, but if you go into the editor and look at his attributes, his tendency is listed as scrambler.

Wait, recruits get bugged by this too? I thought it was only the named players on your starting roster...

Some thing is wrong with NCAA 12 database tables. Stuff shouldn't be effected just because you named the players. But it definitely seemed to have effect the game play AI.
I'm wondering if EA had this tendency swap occur on purpose to avoid getting in trouble with the whole NCAA player likeness thing(Also odd that you can't give a 6-0, 193lb dark skin man dreads-See Denard). While their default no name rosters have the correct abilities of a Denard Robinson for example, The minute you try to manually edit the name, the tendency swaps so you can't potentially name him Robinson and have his true tendencies...
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

This has been kicked around by a few people, consensus (for what it's worth until we actually hear something from EA) is that they wouldn't have acknowledged the glitch if it were intentional.

I don't think this is likely. I think they simply have some variables reversed which cause the wrong tendency to be used.
