Broken promise?
I recruited a 4-star WR to Rice and promised him solid playing time his first year on campus since he was really interested in playing time. So I made him my WR1 since he was my highest-rated WR and he wound up with 66 catches for 1041 yards and 10 touchdowns, but that promise was somehow broken. If starting a guy every game isn't "solid" playing time, what is?Tags: None -
Re: Broken promise?
Huh....that's kinda strange. One would most certainly think that would be enough. I'll admit though I haven't messed around enough with promises to see much more.Check out my Dynasty Blog:

Re: Broken promise?
I feel your pain. Back in NCAA '08 I promised a WR recruit "solid playing time" and since I use 5-Wide, I put him in as the #5 WR... he ended up w/ 137 receptions and 22 TD's yet my promise was "broken" and the kid wanted to transfer at the end of the year. He was All-American, All Freshman and second in Heisman... yet it counted my promise as broken.I recruited a 4-star WR to Rice and promised him solid playing time his first year on campus since he was really interested in playing time. If that happened in real life and a kid wanted to transfer, saying I broke my promise after putting up those numbers, I'd knock the living #### out of him!Dr Death

Re: Broken promise?
That's just bad mojo lol I usually just stick with not redshirting him as a freshmen if I need to promise a kid something. One of the few promises that are easily guaranteed =-)Comment

Re: Broken promise?
this and winning record vs rivals
although if OP had the guy starting and threw to him quite a bit (as his stats indicate) then something is wrong w/ the systemComment

Re: Broken promise?
Yea... this is what the promise actually means, that the player will be the starter the entire season.
For what it's worth, this bug with this particular recruiting promise has always existed... it was around in every version of the game that included this promise...Comment

Re: Broken promise?
He led my team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He was my WR1 all year. That was my only broken promise to him. I also promised him that he would make the freshman All-American team and that I would have a winning record against my rivals. He easily topped all freshmen in receptions, yards and touchdowns so that promise was cake. I wish I guaranteed a conference championship instead because I wound up winning C-USA.Comment

Re: Broken promise?
For some schools it would be easier than others. SDSU for example list BYU and UNLV as their rivals, but you can also schedule Frenso State and San Jose State and it list it as a rival game. Though normally in MWC play you're only going to play UNLV since BYU left. Other teams it may be harder to make that promise.Comment

I hate promises, because they can be vague. "Solid" playing time can mean anything. Really, it should say "guarantee starting position."
