    S.O.S. Sliders (All-American)

    Strategy Over Skillz
    All-American Sliders

    What does S.O.S. mean?
This implies that you are a football fan who tends to stay true to the game. There might be a few plays here and there that are money, but you know better than to call them in those sticky situations. If you're as extreme as me, you've taken those money plays out of your playbooks thanks to custom playbooks. Bottom line: you do not exploit the game.

If you run as many plays from your playbook as you have fingers, please do me a favor and leave. Thanks

    My take on the sliders:
To keep it simple, I was fed up with Heisman and their crazy FG's. Yes, it's that bad. If they patch the decision making I will more than likely head back to Heisman. I feel as though this set is a great challenge. I have heard many complaints of the CPU defenders jumping routes and making crazy interceptions, but I have yet to see anything like that.

Additional steps I take that make NCAA 12 more enjoyable:
Right now I'm in the process of creating custom playbooks for the CPU. I am going to make 14 playbooks for the CPU that should hit on all types of offenses they could run. The thought process behind this is to eliminate useless plays the CPU normally runs. Notre Dame running a QB option for a guaranteed 5 yard loss? Well that won't happen anymore. I take it a step further and I am going to create custom playbooks for their defense too. I will never have to see another Engage 8 which makes me happy.

Post Patch #2 changes in BOLD

    Potential changes:
    Up CPU QB accuracy +5
    Up HUM INT +5

I really don't have too many complaints to be honest!

Plays eliminated from the CPU offensive playbooks:
      Four verts
QB draw/option (I only use QB run plays if they have mobile QBs)
      HB slip screens

      Defensive:
Engage 8 and any other blitz that would expose the defense to get burned easily...like if they bring both corners.

Let me just add that in my last game the CPU had the ball on my 38 yard line and it was 4th down...they punted.

Cool I like what your doing I think I am going to have to do the same. There are a couple other plays that are not named 4 verts but have the slot guy running diagonal and are money as well not sure what their called. Are eliminating 4 wide sets all together or just the streaks?

Here's the first game in my dynasty and let me highlight a few things:

#1- I had some terribly poor tackling attempts
#2- My favorite play of the game starts up around 5:20...it is beautiful
#3- Late in the game you see a long run by me negated by a holding penalty...very few penalties in the game overall
#4- Here you can see the recap: http://ndalum.webs.com/VirginiaFootb...hCarolina.html

This is a great slider set. I don't mind losing. I want to have great games and this slider set helped alot!

              Re: S.O.S. Sliders (All-American)

Just played two great games with this slider set using Tennessee. I beat Alabama 13-7 and lost to Fla. St. 27-17. I did make one change and that was setting Speed Threshold at 43. Everything else is as you have it posted. Stats were very realistic. QB percentages were in the low 50s to mid 60s for all teams. Averaged 2-3 sacks per game for Human and CPU. Running looked great also. I used "ask coach" for play calling and only used one of the 3 plays given. Overall great job on the slider set!

I don't know if I will use the slider set as I use a team vs team slider set, but I really like the ideal of using a custom playbook for CPU teams. Some of the plays are just bad. You could also update team playbooks if they get a running QB or such in future years.

                  Re: S.O.S. Sliders (All-American)

*Slight edit: CPU run block to 55 due to having them pancake me too often with it at 70.

I created about 8 CPU offensive playbooks:

                  Option
                  Air Raid
                  Pro Attack
                  Pistol
                  Spread Mobile QB #1
                  Spread Mobile QB #2
                  Run Heavy

Pro Attack is for balanced teams
Air Raid is for spread/air raid/RnS with pocket passers
Spread is for those with QBs who can run

                  Works for me!

Here's my latest game against North Carolina State. I think you'll see several good things.

I think they play well, but I think all people who create a set of sliders enjoy their own!

I did remove several cheap plays and it has enhanced my experience. Like I said: no more QB option runs with pocket QB's...and actually just far less QB option runs in general. The CPU tends to scramble effectively but they rarely execute option runs well. I also eliminate the all out blitzes by the CPU, which I found has made their D better.

In a nutshell: Yes. The ones I posted in the OP were basically what was eliminated from the CPU playbooks.

I play on PS3 but I highly doubt that matters.

                          _____________________________

Here are the stats from my first season:

                          Some Notes:

I see that pass yards are TOO LOW for the CPU teams but their rushing yards are pretty decent, maybe a little too high.

                          NCAA 2010 team stats:
ESPN is the place for NCAAF stats! Find a list of the Offense Total team stat leaders for the 2025 NCAAF Regular Season.

                          - My 3,347 pass yards would have put me at #27 in the nation (2010)
                          - My 21 pass TDs would have put me tied at #52 in the nation (2010)
                          - I threw a ton of INTs (26). Miami had 27 in 2010 so I'm that bad for #2 in the nation. This all falls on me!
                          - As I look at my stats and the ESPN stats: WOW did they fall in the range pretty dang well! I am quite shocked to see how true to life they are.
                          - Total offense came in at #57 in the nation (2010 - also exactly where UVA finished up that year!)

                          Changes I will be making:

#1- CPU rush D needs to be enhanced. I felt as though my running back was a bit too effective. My offensive line and running back were both average to above average. I want 1,000 yards to be a struggle with a guy like I had. I just felt like a 5-8 yard rush was almost a given!

Change: +20 to CPU Rush D | Will be evaluated as needed

#2- Penalties need to be turned up. This is the tough one so slight tweaks will be made. I will turn offsides down as I found it too easy to make the CPU jump.

                          Changes:
                          +1 to Holding (53)
                          +3 to Facemask (55)
                          +1 to Clipping (53)
+1 to Roughing the Passer (53)
                          -15 to Offsides (55)
These will be changed if they are found to be too sensitive

                          _________________

As you can see the changes are slight. I took an entire year to evaluate the situation and I truly liked the outcome.

As always, sliders are greatly impacted by your style of play. For my style of play, these fit great.

I LOVE this idea. I hate getting cheap sacks against the CPU because it calls slip screens on 2nd or 3rd and long. I also hate that every team seems to have the 2-4-5 and seems to use it to blitz heavy on 3rd and long. It forces either too many sacks or too many HUM big plays by checking down and hitting areas you know will be open.

I don't know much at all about college football, so what basic playbook types do you use? Or perhaps since you said you do about 15, are there 15 or so teams that have distinctive playbook types that you're mimicking, minus the plays that never work?
