I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
Am I the only one who sees the leaps and bounds EA has taken in the name of gameplay upgrades in the last couple of years? I've been Looking at 12 footage from E3 in slo mo and it is the best player Interaction I've ever seen. And still, these guys on youtube are making false videos saying it's 12 when it's not. Saying it's the same game as last year when clearly it's not. Manipulating plays to make Madden look worse than it really is. This is coming from a guy who plays 2k as well. I would love some feedback on this.Tags: None -
Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
It's not the advancements in the last three years, it's that so much time was lost between Madden 06 and Madden 09. That's where a lot of resentment comes from. It's hard for me to even call Madden 06 a "game." -
Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
I can understand people who are "haters" because not everyone only cares about gameplay. If you're a huge franchise fan, you have seen next to no improvement whatsoever until this year. In fact, there are still aspects of franchise mode that were in last gen that are just now being re-added to the game (and some that are still not in it).
When a game in many aspect gets worse as time goes on, I can understand why people would become "haters"
I can never be a ***** now though - they are giving me the ability to edit players in franchise mode - that'll keep me happy for a loooong time.Comment

I've seen the footage too from e3, sadly it looks like the skating is still there. Watch a couple QB scrambles and you'll see what I mean.Playstation Network:That70s_Gamer

Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
I can understand the hate, but I agree EA deserves some props for the effort put in this past cycle. The game looks good, looks its best since 05. Unfortunately there are alot of people who BLINDLY hate on this game well this company in general and thats the real problem I have.Comment

Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
I too don't think it's right for people to say that Madden is the same as its predecessor, but at the same time I understand why people are upset. Before coming into this generation of consoles, many thought that Madden would be drastically different and much more superior than last-gen systems. Unfortunately that was all false hope as Madden got off to a slow start for about three years, then slowly climbed up from Madden 08 until now. Also, Madden is the only NFL game.Am I the only one who sees the leaps and bounds EA has taken in the name of gameplay upgrades in the last couple of years? People want to see a perfect game at this point, but they fail to realize the change of direction that the game has undergone in the last two years from being more tourney-tailored to becoming more of an NFL sim. This change of direction takes time, and I think that Madden is finally arriving at its goal and should definitely be completely there in the very near future. However, not everyone agrees with me and that is understood.
One thing I don't understand is when people say that previous Maddens on the Xbox 360 and PS3 are better than the latest Madden. That's for someone else to explain.Last edited by MattIntellect; 08-01-2011, 05:06 PM.-MattComment

Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
Madden certainly has some flaws and like what was said before, much of it comes from games like Madden '06 and the QB vision cone(I still don't know what that was about)."Champions are champions not because they do anything extraordinary but because they do the ordinary things better than anyone else."

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
I am a Madden "*****" because I was an NFL 2K fan before the exclusive license, and I absolutely hate the fact that EA bought out the exclusive license and took my preferred football game off the market.
I don't hate Madden in and of itself. It's an NFL game, I've bought it every year that I've had an X-Box 360 (which is from Madden '10) and I'm going to buy it this year, at midnight. I think my friend is gonna come up from Atlanta, and he, my brother, and myself (and perhaps some of my brother's friends) are all gonna get our copies, and head on out and play Madden til' the sun comes up. And I am going to play the absolute crap out of franchise mode, and I am going to come on this forum and talk about my franchise progress in the appropriate franchise progress thread.
But I am much harsher on Madden because they forced themselves upon me, and took away the football game that did football simming the way I wanted it to be done. I feel that Madden is extremely flawed on a gameplay level, and doesn't offer me the overall gameplay satisfaction that I got from the NFL 2K series, and since I am forced into Madden if I want to play an NFL game, I am going to be incredibly harsh on Madden until they either A.) match the quality that I experienced from the NFL 2K series or B.) drop the exclusive license and allow me to go back to the franchise that gave me what I wanted from NFL gaming.
That said, this year's installment is at least looking in the right direction. However, I feel it's going to all be for naught if the on field CPU AI isn't drastically improved. But at least feature wise, they are heading in a direction I want to see.Last edited by Franchise408; 08-01-2011, 04:56 PM.Comment

Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
You got it all wrong, Madden did not take 2K away from you, the NFL did. The NFL decided to put the license up for bid and EA out bid the competition. EA did not have a secret meeting with the NFL where they convinced them to go exclusive. If you have any hate over 2K being gone it should be 50% towards the NFL for deciding to sell the license, and 50% towards 2K for not out bidding EA.I am a Madden "*****" because I was an NFL 2K fan before the exclusive license, and I absolutely hate the fact that EA bought out the exclusive license and took my preferred football game off the market.

As for my opinion of Madden, it looks fantastic. Thats the good news. The bad news is it's looked fantastic the last three years and has not been.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
The game looks great to me. Its the "haters" that hate on the game before they even play it and don't even give it a chance. That's what annoys me the most. No video game is going to be perfect that's why they put in tuner sets and patches.Comment

Wait, what??? At the time, EA was the biggest/richest third party publisher. EA and the NFL knew that EA was going to be the only one able to walk out of there with the license. It was basically a sale, not an auction. You can't fault Sega Sports for not having pockets deeper than EA!

Re: I Don't Understand All the Madden Haters!
And you cant fault EA for getting the rights to keep the most popular sports video game of all time going. And their staple franchise at that. The NFL didnt care which company made the highest bid they just wanted the cash.Wait, what??? At the time, EA was the biggest/richest third party publisher.
