Franchise Budget Question

I'm playing with 30 team control, budgets on, training off, Knight & Co Rosters.

I've found that when over/close to budget, I cannot trade as the game will not allow me. However, the FA screen will allow me to offer large contracts that would push me over budget. Also, I can make waiver claims that would do the same.

Is there a punishment for going over budget? Will the game force me to cut and go back under budget over time? Will I possibly get fired at the end of the year for same?

I like following the budget as it sets guidelines, but just wondering if there is an actual negative impact from the game itself.

I don't believe you can sign players if it will make you go over budget, not sure about trading

I've found it wont allow you to trade. I was able to make a waiver claim, pick up the player, and sim thru a few days over budget. Hopefully it won't affect my job status at year end or whatnot.
