'Frisco Boys: A San Francisco 49ers Franchise

Hello! Welcome to the San Francisco 49ers Madden 12 Franchise. I hope that you find this 'chise interesting, entertaining, and informative!

First off, you may be wondering why one would start a franchise before the release of Madden 12. I chose to do this because it would give me more time to write up quality preseason reports on every team and in depth information as well as giving myself a little time to adjust and learn the Operation Sports way!

Obviously, I'm new to OS and would appreciate the help of everyone to make this franchise as aesthetically pleasing as possible!

I will try to have updates up on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, but nothing is guaranteed!

Thanks for reading and don't be shy... feedback (whether negative or positive), and help would be highly appreciated!

Thanks to kesleypro for the awesome banner!

** I would like this franchise to move a little faster and if anyone knows a good link or two for quality NFL logos and such, PLEASE don't hesitate to tell me. Also it'd be great if someone volunteered to make me a banner.. I imagine it as Frank Gore left Jim Harbaugh center Patrick Willis right and text for my franchise.** Thanks again, help is very much appreciated!

                    49ers 2011 Roster and Comments
                    By: Thomas Taylor
                    Posted 9 hours ago
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As training camps wind down, and the players shift into position to make or break their spot on the team, the San Francisco 49ers couldn't be any more uncertain at many positions. Several questions linger such as:
Who will lead the team at Quarterback?
How will Frank Gore recover from a season ending injury?
What noise will John Harbaugh make in his first season as Head Coach?
                    How will rookies step up?
Among all the uncertainties, one thing remains certain. The NFC West title will not come easy. The 49ers were pre-lockout favorites to take the title, but several key additions from rivals make the NFC West a wild race.

Listed below is the 2011 49ers Roster (Roster IS not final and is subject to changes):

                    QB1: Alex Smith
                    QB2: Colin Kaepernick (R)
                    QB3: McLeod Bethel-Thompson (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Quarterback is not a strong position for the 49ers, Alex Smith has many questions such as leadership and ability. Two rookies round out the position and Kaepernick might see playing time throughout the season.

                    RB1: Frank Gore
                    RB2: Anthony Dixon
                    RB3: Kendall Hunter (R)
                    RB4: Jeremiah Masoli (R)
                    RB5: Xavier Omon (R)
                    RB6: Seth Smith (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Frank Gore is the clear starter although his recovery from a season ending injury could make him less productive. Rookie Kendall Hunter could see some playing time and could move up to the number two spot.

                    FB1: Noran Morris
                    FB2: Bruce Miller (R)
                    FB3: Jack Corcoran (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: FB is a weak spot for the 49ers as they look to develop one of the rookies and benefit from the veteran leadership of Noran Morris.

                    WR1: Braylon Edwards
                    WR2: Michael Crabtree
                    WR3: Josh Morgan
                    WR4: Ted Ginn Jr.
                    WR5: Ronald Johnson (R)
                    WR6: Dominique Ziegler
                    WR7: Kyle Williams
                    WR8: Lance Long
                    WR9: Kevin Jurovich
                    WR10: Chris Hogan (R)
                    WR11: Joe Hastings (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Braylon Edwards headlines the 49ers key additions and will battle with Michael Crabtree for the number one spot. Ted Ginn Jr. will mostly cover return duties. Rookie Ronald Johnson could move up.

                    TE1: Vernon Davis {C}
                    TE2: Delanie Walker [FB]
                    TE3: Nate Byham
                    TE4: Konrad Reuland (R)
                    TE5: Chris Blohm (R)
                    TE6: Colin Cloherty
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Vernon Davis is a top five tight end and will not be challenged by any of the backups. Delanie Walker will play a little full back.

                    T1: Joe Staley
                    T2: Anthony Davis
                    T3: Adam Snyder
                    T4: Alex Boone
                    T5: Derek Hall (R)
                    T6: Kenny Wiggins (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Tackles Joe Staley and Anthony Davis provide solid protection for Alex Smith and will continue to improve.

                    G1: Mike Iupati
                    G2: Chilo Rachal
                    G3: Johnathon Goodwin
                    G4: Tony Wragge
                    G5: Daniel Kilgore (R)
                    G6: Nick Howell
                    G7: Mike Person (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Second year man Mike Iupati is a rising star, and alongside Chilo Rachal provides an improving core.

                    C1: Donovan Edwards (R) [G]
                    C2: Chase Beeler (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Center is possibly the 49ers weakest position. Look for them to acquire a veteran via free agency or trade.

                    DE1: Aldon Smith (R) [LB]
                    DE2: Demarcus Dobbs (R)
                    DE3: Brian Bulcke (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: First rounder Aldon Smith looks to improve a defense that was average at best.

                    DT1: Isaac Sopoaga
                    DT2: Ricky Jean Francois
                    DT3: Ray McDonald
                    DT4: Justin Smith
                    DT5: Will Tukuafu
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: The departure of Pro-Bowler Aubrayo Franklin weakens a front line as third year Ricky Jean Francois needs to step up.

                    OLB1: Parys Haralson
                    OLB2: Ahmad Brooks
                    OLB3: NaVorro Bowman
                    OLB4: Thaddeus Gibson
                    OLB5: Larry Grant
                    OLB6: Alex Joseph
                    OLB7: Scott McKillop
                    OLB8: Kenny Rowe (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: The outside linebacking crop of this year is not too strong for the 49ers this year. Several veterans need to step up.

                    MLB1: Patrick Willis {C}
                    MLB2: Keaton Kristick
                    MLB3: Blake Costanzo
                    MLB4: Monte Simmons (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Patrick Willis is considered the best middle linebacker in the league. Unless he gets injured the backups do not need to be very strong, as they aren't.

                    CB1: Shawntae Spencer
                    CB2: Tarell Brown
                    CB3: Tramaine Brock
                    CB4: Phillip Adams
                    CB5: Curtis Holcomb (R)
                    CB6: Chris Culliver (R)
                    CB7: Phillip Davis (R)
                    CB8: Corey Nelms (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: There are no stars on this cornerbacking crew. Shawntae Spencer will have to cause turnovers and Tarell Brown needs to step up his game.

                    S1: Dashon Goldson
                    S2: Donte Whitner
                    S3: Taylor Mays
                    S4: Reggie Smith
                    S5: Curtis Taylor
                    S6: Colin Jones (R)
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: The 49ers safeties could be a surprising bunch. Although there are no superstars Dashon Goldson and Donte Whitner could perform past their potential. Sophomore Taylor Mays looks to improve on an average rookie year.

                    K1: David Akers
                    K2: Fabrizio Scaccia
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: The loss of Joe Nedney is made up for by David Akers who looks to recover from his three misses in the Wild Card game against the Packers.

                    P1: Andy Lee {C}
                    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bottom Line: Andy Lee is one of the best punters in the league and looks to continue his past success.

I couldn't believe it but they didn't resign him. Oh well I guess I'll just have to use Smith and Kaepernick. I feel like an idiot for saying Troy Smith is my guy lol.

                          Week 17: @ St. Louis L
                          Final: 8-8

A subpar year give the 49ers a top 15 pick in the draft as all signs point to this season being a downer. Week 2 against Dallas is an interesting matchup, the Niners could steal a win. Tampa Bay and Detroit are ones that could go either way. The Harbaugh Bowl on Thanksgiving Night will be a fierce battle. The final four games, three of which are against rivals, will be vital to the team's success.
