Finishing Strong: A Jacksonville Jaguars Franchise (Madden 12)

    JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
    * Update: I'm going to add an ESPN feature for the best highlight games of the week and who performed the best each week along with rivalry games, free agency and trade updates, and other features as well. * Hey everyone, I'm new to OS but I love doing Franchise and I thought this seemed really interesting so I thought I would try it out. I'm going to be taking control of the Jaguars and I have seen some creative names for the franchises so I just made up my own which Finishing Strong is because the Jags typically can't finish when they are up early in their division so I'm going to try and turn that around. I will list what I'm going to be focusing on how to improve the team and how I am going to set this up.
    - Ground Rules: I am going to use Custom slider settings that show realistic stats and I will be playing on 12 minute quarters. I also plan to import my ncaa draft class for the first year, not sure about the rest of the franchise though.
    - I plan to revolve my offense around MJD for the first three or four years until I can start to trust Blaine Gabbert.
    - During preseason I will decide who I feel is most comfortable at the QB spot: David Garrard or Blaine Gabbert.
    - After the 1st year I think I'm going to try and draft a stud WR if I get a top 10 pick unless any of the other WR's other than Mike Thomas seem promising. I feel like most of the defense is set with Aaron Kampmann and Austen Lane at DE, Paul Posluszny (who I think is a beast), Clint Session and Daryl Smith at LB, Reshean Mathis at CB, and Dawan Landry at FS. I might try to pick up a decent SS in Free Agency along with maybe another Corner just to improve the pass defense.
    - For the offense I believe I will be fine with Gabbert for most of my Franchise. I am set with Marcedes Lewis at TE and obviously MJD at RB with Rashad Jennings as a backup which I like. WR is the only position I'm worried about so if I end up doing bad I hope to draft a Justin Blackmon haha.
    - I just hope within 4 years I will be a threat to the Colts and Texans and possibly the Titans if Locker ends up playing well under Hasselbeck.
I will post stats for every player each week once the season starts and I will post the final roster/depth chart after pre-season. I will also put up a division watch to see who will be contending for the AFC South title each year. So do you guys think this is a good idea? Or does anyone want to give any other suggestions on who I should pick up in the draft/free agency? Or if I should run this team in a completely different direction? Just let me know I get bored and doing this fills that void and I enjoy doing it =)

I think it's a good idea, I just did one with Wisconsin in NCAA and while I liked doing it I got kind of lazy and played a few games ahead so it was hard for me to comeback and try to post so I think one of the key things is to either take amazing notes or just post right after something happens so you don't fall into a situation like mine....I personally think that this dynasty sounds like a good idea just before you start make sure that you have everything set up and planned out that way it will look ten times better

Yeah I plan to have templates for different things and everything which is why I am planning this out before Madden comes out to give me time to think of how I am going to fully set this up.

Thanks! Btw your favorite team was second place in my decision for this haha I was going to be the bills. I guarantee if this turns out to be a success then that will definitely be my next challenge. The Bills need to be a threat to the pats/jets haha someone needs to show those guys up.

I also want to make this kind of interactive keeping other people involved in it and I am completely open to suggestions. BTW if I fail in the 1st season I'm thinking of firing Del Rio and maybe picking up... Fischer? If he's available I would be so down haha so yeah everyone give me your opinions and you're free to try and change my mind on any free agency/draft moves I posted. Also HERE is the madden 12 rosters for the Jags. Note: I will not have Sims-Walker, and the Linebackers will be LOLB Clint Session 81, MLB Paul Posluszny 87, and I'm moving Daryl Smith 90, to the ROLB position since I think Paul is going to end up being the defensive captain and I find him as a beast Linebacker. Also FS Dawan Landry 86 will also be the starter. I'm liking Gabbert's stats already I think he may end up being the starter by week 1 of the regular season. I like how he has the same power as Garrard but better accuracy. Garrard has the better deep ball accuracy but I can manage with him as the mentor. Anyone that's following think the linebacker positions and Gabbert being starter is a good idea or should I wait and let him sit?

Alright so it looks like I'm going to be having a ridiculous schedule this year. I will play my divisional games twice of course then it looks like I play the NFC South along with the AFC North. And the two left out teams are the Jets and Chargers. So since I'm playing on All-Madden I really don't know how this is going to turn out haha I'm going to be trying hard every game including pre season and with all these teams I'll be able to run on most except the Steelers, Ravens, Chargers, Jets, Falcons and Saints probably. The best WR I have from the Madden 12 ratings I saw is Mike Thomas at 80 haha so like I said I think I'll be trying to pick up a young stud WR from the draft rather than an older one in free agency. Thoughts on this anyone?

So now the Jaguars have signed ANOTHER linebacker. Matt Roth, OLB for the Cleveland Browns (who is an 86 rating in Madden 12) just signed a one year deal. So now he will be competing against probably Clint Session for the job in my franchise.

So with all this in mind my gameplan pretty much is to stop the pass. With all these linebackers signed, btw I decided Matt Roth will be competing against Austen Lane for the Defensive End job, that the run defense will be top 15 this year. With Reshean Mathis and Dawan Landry covering I think teams are going to try and pass against my weak side where Derek Cox is so I'm going to make sure I cover the number 2 receiver and I'll probably be giving up a lot of yards against Tight Ends since I want to focus my linebackers more on stopping the run.

Yeah I liked them because they had a good WR with a decent qb that I could use as a great mentor for a young guy. Then I could use fred jackson mainly and later develop cj spiller to a great RB with jackson as a mentor and bring in someone to fill the void of posluszny

If it wasn't for his awareness and if he had just a little better man and zone coverage then he would definitely be fighting for that number 2 spot with Cox but I'm gonna see if any of those go up during or after the season. If they do he might be a 2nd string by next season because he's only in his 5th year, but Derek Cox is only in his 3rd so he'll really have to shine haha.

^very interested please follow through on it haha. As tempting as it is i'd probably play David Garrard for a season to kinda get Gabbert into the swing of things.

Yeah that's what I'm leaning towards now too. And I will follow through on it I'm just waiting for the season to start along with getting ready to move back into college. The day after I start school is when the game comes out but I get fridays off and monday-thursday i'm done by 2 so I'll have plenty of time
