    Preplay Controls

For a Tiburon team that caters to accessibility, I have no idea why they keep making the preplay control scheme harder to do each and every year. You have to do 4 things just to shade 1 WR. So, if you want to shade 1 WR, that's pretty much all you can do by the time the center snaps the ball. I just don't understand their logic of not using the NCAA control scheme. It's easier and much better to do. Almost everyone I know tries to do everything to avoid using the d-pad in any game, so to have such a big thing evolve around it, is baffling. So, here is a poll, of which one you like best, and maybe we can persuade them to use NCAA's while integrating a few new things like shading a WR. Not to mention to audible now is even tougher to do than last year, because you have to use the d-pad to scroll through it.

More than NCAA 12? Is there a reason why? Is it quicker to you, more options?

        Re: Preplay Controls

I use Madden 12 with quick links turned off. The thing is last year you had to press the d-pad once just to bring up the strat-pad which was annoying and time-wasting.

This year you don't have to do it, you just press whatever you need to do. For instance if I want to spread the dline I do left and up on d-pad as soon as I pick my play. Is just as fast as the old way now, you just need to get used to a new layout

With that said, I voted for the last option, since obviously a lot of people want to still use the old controls. EA should use the same control scheme for both games

I'm used to it so it's pretty quick and intuitive.. I can easily make all the changes I need before the CPU snaps the ball... Don't really play NCAA, soooooo....

I bet it's tough to compare them then!! Try the NCAA 12 demo and see what you think of the preplay controls. It uses everything except the dpad which is a great thing!

They've removed the pointless extra step this year. The new system is more logical and just as quick as the old one (as far as I know), you just have to learn the new layout.

I'm glad someone brought this up... I don't play NCAA and am unfamiliar with it's controls, but I wish EA would quit trying to be cute with the Madden interface and pulling the old model. The Strategy Pad was a nice thought, but EA must stop hijacking it's consumers when an experimental feature is added. There is no reason QB Vision or Strategy Pad should have supplanted the traditional defaults in the first year of existence before we had the opportunity to try them.

Madden 10 config... Hmph! How about MADDEN CONFIG. Leave the friggin buttons alone. They work the way they are. If you're gonna add something ADD it. Don't subtract what we trust in the process.

Why is there an option to choose Strategy Pad or minimized controls? They both work when the controls are minimized... SMH.

I still prefer the 2005 setup.

I think the 2010 option is the '05 setup..

                    Y/Triangle for coverage changes
                    LB/L1 for Line changes
                    RB/R1 for LB changes..

I didn't play last years version, so maybe i'm slow, but how in the world do you have time to make defensive adjustment in the Maddden demo?? Barely get time to adjust line before the ball is snapped.

But to audible and some other controls are still with the dpad no matter which one this year you pick.

                          Re: Preplay Controls

This is my biggest gripe with this years game. I want the old style back along with more time to make adjustments. If the demo is any indication of qbs being able to scramble for huge yardage I definitely want to make several adjustments to attempt the contain all of the online players that will be using vick and the eagles.

I don't think the game allows me to do the following any more due to time issues.
                          1) cycle players until I find the one I want to set as a spy
                          2) set DE to contain
                          3) set delayed BnR
                          4) cycle players til I get to the MLB which I use post snap

This is a deal breaker for me so I will wait and see what the first day/week buyers say. If I was an offline franchise player I could probably live with it, but I play all of my games online and I know that a lot of players will be using the eagles so this will be very important to me. Maybe if they don't fix this then I should just jump on the eagles bandwagon. If cutler and rodgers are getting big yardage in the demo, I can only imagine how much more damage vick will do with someone that has good stick skills.

NCAA. Why? Quick audibles! Such a great weapon, but when you have to scroll through them to select, it takes away any advantage. If I feel a blitz coming and I want to audible to a quick pass, my opponent will see what I'm audibling. Kinda takes all the strategy out of it. NCAA, on the other hand, has quick audibles tied to the D-pad.

I generally only use the quick audibles (run, pa pass, quick pass, long pass) so I use the right stick..
