She continued, "Within new physical retail sales of console and portable games, July 2011 saw just 17 new releases (at the title level) compared to 29 last July. Setting NCAA aside, the average sales per new release this July were up 42 percent in units versus the average sales per new release in July 2010."

She also noted that NCAA Football 12 saw a 15 percent increase in unit sales compared to NCAA Football 11 in July 2010. She said, "The increase in sales could have been fueled by ardent football fans who have to wait a little longer to get their hands on Madden this year."

Why? There are a lot more casual gamers, who, as you pointed out, don't notice as many of the bugs.

Coaching carousel in dynasty and custom conferences might have been strong selling points as well.

That's a direct result of NCAA 11. Because of NCAA 11, gamers felt more confidence in the series and went with NCAA 12. The curious number will be the sales of NCAA 13.

100% exactly what I was going to say. NCAA 11 was a significant upgrade over NCAA 10, therefore people came into NCAA 12 looking for a similar trend.

I think it ties into the fact that they pushed Madden back to the 30th. People just figured it would help ease their football fix. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but I know there are people who bought it because Madden was pushed back and they wanted something to kill time...

Once the patch comes out i think we'll all think this deserved it but on how it came out was ridiculous. Kinda off topic but, I believe NCAA 13 will be a big improvement on the presentation side and gameplay side. Ncaa 10 focused on features, ncaa 11 focused on gameplay and presentation, ncaa 12 focused on features (dynasty and rtg...) and slightly gameplay and presentation but not a big leap. See the pattern. So what im trying to say is, is that ncaa should be getting a lot of sales so they can keep making the game better even though this game was produced sloppy

the waiting for madden i definately think is a factor, also the marketplace in general is in better shape than last year.

Putting aside all the arguments about QA and the like, what makes me happy is that the time spent implementing things like CC and improving the zone D was rewarded with a nice bump in sales. This make it more likely that they will continue in this direction, instead of shifting focus to features that are more for the casual player.

I think the bump soley came from them being on Facebook and Twitter. The casuals don't even play coaching carousel or custom conferences, all they play is online and online dynasty.

But the sure fire way to get attention to your product to the masses is to put it out there on twittter and facebook. That is nothing but FREE advertisement.

Honestly, custom conferences and BCS ties is why I bought it. That and I got $20 off for trading in my copy of NCAA 11 at Target.

I view this as $60 spent well

I have some gripes, but overall I truly enjoy this game.
