How to advance two runners on a Sac Fly??
Ok, here's the situation: Bases Loaded, No outs, batter hits a DEEP fly ball to Right-Center Field. I select the runner on third to tag and do when the ball is caught. However, I don't have enough time to select the runner at 2nd base to have him tag to third. What is the best way to make this happen?? L1 to advance all and then individually select the runner on 1st and make him go back to 1st??Tags: None -

Yes. I've been meaning to try targetting the runner before hand, and holding the button (Circle), and then simultaneously pressing L1. In theory that should make only the remaining two runners advance, but I haven't actually tried it. Give that a shot if you have a chance... but the answer to your question is yes. -

I've been in this situation before, here's what you do. As fast as you can get the runner on first to slide to first. This will stall his progress as you hold L1 to advance to third and home. Then select guy on first and press the button of the base to keep him on it.Comment

This works on deep fly balls, especially when the ball is hit to deep right, or deep right center.
Edit: I've actually never tried to advance all and then send the one guy back to first. Though I'd imagine that would work too, especially if the ball is hit to left.Last edited by Jgainsey; 08-15-2011, 09:54 PM.Now, more than everComment

Re: How to advance two runners on a Sac Fly??
It's tricky, but usually doable if it's a very deep fly ball. I take care of the guy on second first, by manually selecting him. Then I switch over to the guy on third as quickly as possible, and send him on his way. Though if I have a really slow guy on third, I usually send him first just to make sure I get the run in. Even then, I'm usually able to pull off the tag up to third because of the time it takes the cut off guy to handle the ball.

Re: How to advance two runners on a Sac Fly??
Also important is to make sure the runners are back at the bag and ready to go. I hit R1 right away because the runners always hang with that default lead off the base until the ball is just about caught.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Do you then hit L1 to advance them all after the ball is caught?Comment

Re: How to advance two runners on a Sac Fly??
Here is what I do:
Once the flyball is hit, the CPU automatically has the runners at 2B and 3B retreat to tag up, and it has the runner at 1B go half way. Its very hard to turn into the runner at 1B, as the CPU thinks you want to control the hitter. Once the ball is caught, press advance all. After you press advance all, turn into the runner at 1B and press the 1B button. It is very dangerous if the right fielder catches it, but its the only way.Originally posted by banned memberMy [RTTS] goals are to improve my bunting and drag bunting. Re: How to advance two runners on a Sac Fly??
Generally I individually target the runners on second and third and advance them. Sometimes depending on the situation I will hit L1 and and target the runner at first and hold him off the bag. Depending if the throw goes home I will send him to second and if it is cut I retreat back to first.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: How to advance two runners on a Sac Fly??
This topic has come up a few times. Its seems to be one of the few, if not the only, time in this game where its hard to pull something off.
Would it be too much to have a little box pop up, like RTTS for shallow or deep etc, that says "advance runners at 2B and 3B; retreat runner at 1B", then it says Yes (X) No (O), and it could have a 3 second countdown timer before it disapears. It wouldn't interupt gameplay, it would just appear like the "infield fly" lettering.
Or am I just really bored at work right now?!Originally posted by banned memberMy [RTTS] goals are to improve my bunting and drag bunting. You stupid !@#$, I'm almost leading the league in bombs; !@#$ you!Comment

Re: How to advance two runners on a Sac Fly??
Why can't they make it so that if you select a baserunner, then both the selected player AND every other baserunner in front of him advance as well? Say you have the same situation as above, bases loaded and no outs. You select the runner at second base with the left analog and then press the 3rd base icon to make him tag up, but in doing so, it also "forces" the runner in front of him at 3rd to advance to home. If they could get this in MLB 12, then I would be very pleased.Comment

Re: How to advance two runners on a Sac Fly??
This would normally apply to all situations as "favorable," except one. I sometimes get into rundowns between bases, say third and home. While I'm in the rundown, I want a runner on second of mine to advance to third and safely. If this makes my runner between third and home automatically go home, that might be cause for concern.

I guess it's just a situation where either way is going to have it's flaws. I have faith in the guys at SCEA though that they can make something like this work for all parties if they do look at "fixing" this issue.Comment
