Can't hit HR's with certain hitters?
with fair trades on I was able to trade Rafael Soriano for Jose Bautista, followed by me acquiring Mike Adams. However, I cannot seem to get the ball to leave the ball park with Bautista after 16 games lol. Everyone else on the team has a HR so far even bench players. I was just wondering if this is a glitch or this is just getting to my head.Tags: None -

You can't think in baseball. Go up to the plate and get a good count and find a good pitch. Soon base hits will start becoming 4 baggers, don't worry.Kemp for NL MVP

Patience. Sometimes you'll hit a homerun with a guy like Chone Figgans and not hit one with somebody like Jose Bautista. It happens. That's what makes baseball so great.
Sometimes I can help to put your next best hitter behind Bautista to ensure that he gets pitches to hit.EPL - Arsenal

Re: Can't hit HR's with certain hitters?
This happens to me in my Tigers franchise with Cabrera. I think it is affected by a couple factors mainly being; first, you are trying too hard because you know they are a power hitter. The other being, just as you know that individual is a really good hitter, so does the CPU pitcher; I have noticed that the CPU pitcher pitches Cabrera much tougher than the other batters in the lineup. For example, the pitcher may be topping out at about 90-92 on his fastball to other batters, but when Cabrera comes up he tops out at 94, I notice that the CPU is also much more careful about hitting his corners. As mentioned above, which I have to remind myself quite a bit as well, be patient and eventually the pitcher will be too cute and you will find yourself in a 3-0 count with that fastball coming over the heart of the plate.Comment

If its RTTS, raise your contact and focus on hitting it backup the middle. If it is a created character for a franchise, for example, then be patient at the plate, don't go up hacking at homeruns, you will find yourself getting more doubles which turns into more home runs. If you power swing first pitch its 90% likely you will pop it up.Kemp for NL MVP

The CPU definitely pitches your stars tougher. I play with Texas and Hamilton gets peppered with sliders that break down and in..... It would be a ball if I took it but it's just a nasty pitch and hits hard to lay off. If he does hit it it goes for a week ground ball. Also get a lot of high inside heat that I don't see with anyone else. This happens to me in my Tigers franchise with Cabrera. My line for Hamilton is .247 22 hr"s and 81 RBI. Nice power numbers but the CPU has definitely limited him from hitting for average.Comment

Are you timing Bautista's swing properly? His swing is so long that it is really tough to get used to!

Re: Can't hit HR's with certain hitters?
I think it is partially mental. I started a new Franchise with the Brewers and hit a HR in the very first game with Nyjer Morgan
, which was my only one that game. It was a week before Fielder hit his first HR. Meanwhile, Braun was batting somewhere around .159
and was frustrating the hell out of me! But it was because I was trying too hard with Braun. Once I settled down and was more patient with him at the plate, good things began happening

It was lik that earlier in my franchise with the Braves. I used the guess pitch feature on what think might be a fastball. It has to be a fastball count, 2-0 or 3-1.
Im in the month of July and Uggla has 15HRs, McCann 9HR and Chipper 10HR. Not all of my homers has been against fastball or power swing. Its truly on of those things.Comment
