The wind has me baffled, which way to defend?

I seriously can not for the life of me figure out which way to defend when there is wind. When the wind will be pointing right, I'll pick the same way each time and when I go to kick, it will be different each time.

Also, I always second guess myself, but I swear the wind direction changes between quarters also changes from game to game. Sometimes you will have it at your back in the 1st and 3rd quarters, then the next time you'll have it at your back on the 2nd and 3rd. I feel dumb that I can't figure it out, but I really just think it's random.

If you pick defend the end OPPOSITE of the way the wind is going, the other team will be going against the wind.

And the wind does change, well, not really, but at the end of the quarter, you flip ends and you'd be going into the wind if you weren't the first quarter.

the wind goes like if you loss or win the toss make sure you pick to kick into the wind so in 2 & 4 qt you have the wind at your back to help with long field goals and make your opp kick into the wind come 4 qtr

I try to get the wind at my back for the 2nd and 4th quarters, but I feel like, even if I pick to kick into the wind in 2 different games, I will have the wind at my back in the 2nd and 4th quarter for one game, then in the 2nd and 3rd in the other game. I just don't get it.

The arrow that indicates wind direction at the coin toss coincidentally points at the end zone you should choose to defend. That is, assuming you want the wind in your favor in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

If you want the wind in the 2nd and 4th quarters, you should have the wind direction arrow pointed at the selected side (the one glowing yellow).

This makes you defend (have your back to) the goal that's going into the wind when you select, meaning you're choosing to go into the wind at kickoff. Since sides change each quarter, you'll be with the wind in the 2nd, against it again in the 3rd, and with it again in the 4th.

I think there might be a switch sides bug in NCAA 12. Sometimes the teams don't switch sides at the start of the 3rd quarter.

As an example, I just played a game where the wind blew north at 7 mph (relative to my kicking game) in the 1st quarter and then south at 7 mph in the 2nd after the teams switch sides.

But in the 3rd quarter the wind was still blowing south at 7 mph. And then at the start of the 4th we switched sides and the wind was blowing north at 7 mph again.

Whenever the wind is strong enough to affect the kicking game I pay attention to look for this bug. I bet it happens 75% of the time.

                Has anyone else seen this?

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I can't tell if I'm crazy/stupid, but I think there is a glitch that it doesnt flip between the 2nd and 3rd quarters

I have had the wind in my favor for the second quarter, only to have it again in the third, and not the fourth like I should. I'm glad someone else has noticed this and I'm not as crazy as I thought I was.

Where do you see the wind reading and direction during the game? I only know how to see it after the coin toss.

I'm with these guys. It's pretty easy to tell which way the wind will be blowing in the 1st half, but if I select the wind so it's at my back in the 2nd and 4th quarters, I always get it to my back in the 2nd, but whether or not it's at my back in the 4th (which of course is the one that I really care about) seems to be completely random.

I figure it's either or bug, or maybe it goes down like this:
CPU wins the toss and elects to kick (or receive, doesn't matter).
I choose to put the wind @ my back in the 2nd quarter.
For 3rd quarter, since I got to choose the wind, now the CPU gets to choose the wind and they choose to put it at their back in the 4th (behind the scenes of course).

Has anyone noticed if the teams are not switching sides every quarter or if it's just the wind that's switching direction? An easy test would be to play somewhere obvious, like @ Colorado. @CU, they have a giant "Colorado" sign in 1 end zone but not the other so it'll be easy to tell if you go towards that sign in the 2nd and 4th or if you get switched up and go towards it in the 2nd and 3rd.

I'll see what happens when I'm at home, I haven't looked that closely, but minn plays in a horseshoe. I'll pay more attention next home game. You might be on to something.

I didn't even need to wait until my next home game, my very next game gave me pretty clear results. Playing at Miss. St, I lost the toss, they elected to kick, I picked for the wind to be against me in the 1st. I score, and I notice I will be kicking at this building they have on one side of the field. 2nd quarter begins, score again, I see I have the wind at my back and I'm kicking towards some bleachers of fans.

Second half begins with me kicking off. Guess what I'm kicking at. The building which I kicked at in the first or bleachers I kicked at in the second?

Well, if you guessed the bleachers, then you would be correct. we did not switch sides like we were supposed to. So this has to be a bug.

I don't know about college but in the pros you only switch sides at the start of the 2nd and 4th so maybe it is like that in college too

Nope, it's supposed to switch every quarter. Most of the time it does, but there are also plenty of times when you get screwed over because it doesn't switch when it's supposed to.
