Re: To all bashing Madden 12's kicking meter. . .
Am I the only one who can picture PS3 and XBox360 controllers being thrown at TV screens in record numbers if the game had botched holds and snaps? I can picture the vitriol from the threads about how a franchise season was ruined because the "CPU cheated."Comment

Re: To all bashing Madden 12's kicking meter. . .
I could totally see that happening, and if it happened to me in a big game I would probably say the same thing. The kicking game is fine as is, there are not many ways to make it more challenging other than having an error rating, but I can imagine on All-Madden it would happen all the time compared to previous year's tendencies. The only other thing I can think of is maybe like a swinging camera or something to make it hard to aim the arrow at the uprights or something.Comment

I can't believe people would be against botched snaps and holds. If handled properly, I think it'd be great.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

I like this. It would be just as rewarding as TD's. I honestly would prefer a "mini game" that u could botch over "Ok just as long as I get it over the 30 I'm gold." Even tho very few of my games are decided by field goals but when they do this would get super intense. This is why I think we should have the add an additional button press to the kicking system to represent the holder catching and placing the football. It would be like one click for the snap, one click for cath/place, and then the two clicks for the power and accuracy. If timed incorrectly, the kick may take longer/throw off the player's timing and maybe we will actually see a legitimate field goal block in madden. If horribly timed, it could just result in a fumble.Comment

Yea not only would this make long-snappers and holders relevant, having good quality holders and long-snappers would be just as important.EXPERIENCE MAYHEM FOOTBALLComment

Re: To all bashing Madden 12's kicking meter. . .
Yeah but those involved in tournaments and competitive players will be the first in line crying foul.
At least with fumbles you could have covered the ball or run out of bounds. Picks were probably the user's fault.
Botched snaps and holds would be completely random and more than likely no fault of the user. This is why it isn't in the game.
Now, add an element of control like what has been thrown around in here, and you may have something. Not like they can't do it (fight for the fumble).EXPERIENCE MAYHEM FOOTBALLComment

Great idea, would love to see them add something like that to next years game to make it a little more challenging and realistic. This is why I think we should have the add an additional button press to the kicking system to represent the holder catching and placing the football. It would be like one click for the snap, one click for cath/place, and then the two clicks for the power and accuracy. As for them bringing back the meter from the PS2 games this year, I like it alot better than the right joystick. Makes the Kickers ratings atleast somewhat of a factor.Comment

I think the reasoning given once was that it would annoy people too much if they lost a game online because of it.Comment

Re: To all bashing Madden 12's kicking meter. . .
It is basically the same design, just a different look. A little nervous to see how it works online. Last year the lag was so bad it was almost impossible just to make an extra point.
I also don't understand why people want to add button presses to the kick, they must not be online players. I agree it needs to be a little more difficult, but additional timed button presses are not the answer.Comment

Re: To all bashing Madden 12's kicking meter. . .
This is a problem though, they're scared to frustrate people. Not frustrate like a bug would, but like: dropped passes, comeback losses and season ending injuries do. Which makes some sense because it's just a game and people shouldn't be getting frustrated while playing...but at the same time frustration is part of football.
I think it's one of the main reasons it's so easy to go and turn any team around quickly and eats away at the overall challenge. Game is designed for people who want to take their fav team and win a SB every year and win every game.
I wish we'd at least have options for auto-kicking and botched snaps.Comment

Re: To all bashing Madden 12's kicking meter. . .
I just wish there was an auto-kick feature. Once you know how to kick/are used to the kicking meter, you will rarely miss a FG. Obviously we would want the game tuned correctly so good kickers aren't missing all the time, or bad kickers can't make an XP to save their lives.
Also, on the topic of kicking, I would like to see botched snaps/holds in the game. While rare, they should happen. While frustrating for the player it happens to, it would be a really cool wrinkle added to the game. "True to the game" and "Everything you see on Sunday" are silly tag lines as it is, but more so when these things are omitted.
Those are good ideas but knowing EA, ther's gonna be a glitch for the first month or 2 that cheesers will abuse online until the patch comes out.Comment
