    Really confused with Madden Ratings

So I was looking to see how they rated Peyton Hillis and what I'm not understanding is, he fumbled 8 times last season. They gave him a carry rating of 85. Okay so then why does Ahmad Bradshaw get a carry rating of 72 if he fumbled 7 times last season? Is it like consistency of fumbling per year or is it because he's on the cover or what? Haha I'm just trying to figure this out. And i just think Calvin Johnson should at least be a 95 instead of 93 but I guess its not that much of a difference.

It is all about popularity. Popular players will always get a ratings boost.

I don't understand that either. It's incredibly frustrating.

hopefully they have a roster share like 2k..cause i plan on making a more stretched and accurate roster file for the community.

What about steve slatons carry rating of 57? He fumbled 7 times 2 years ago and 3 times the year before that.

Atleast carry isnt as weird as strength. Ray Lewis has 91 strength, which is the same as richard seymour, and 1 point higher than kelly gregg.
While i appreciate the direction Madden is going, i would like to know why i am paying $60 to be a beta tester.

Also if you make it to the superbowl you get a big boost haha like if making the superbowl increases your awareness or speed haha they should honestly have certain people watch each team. Maybe have a team of 2 or 3 people constantly watch one team for every team the entire season and base it off true ratings so then it will be True To The Game. I'm not complaining about anything else but I mean 85 to 72 Carry rating when you fumble more and you get a boost because you're on the cover? I understand if they bumped it up to 75 for popularity but wow 85 haha. They should just use real stats or maybe based on everyones career such as who has the highest accuracy based on a certain amount of attempts in a season or career and make a balance as like whoever has the best accuracy gets the 99 and then go down from there

              Simple reason.

The guys at EA suck balls in this category more than pretty much any other area. Just atrocious job on their part the more things get pointed out. Hillis is just plain overrated as it is, but I mean it would look bad if the cover athlete of Madden was an 82 overall. That's probably how they look at it.

                Lol, probably

So just get your city to rally around an above average player on your team and get him on the cover and he'll get a 10 point rating boost

Cover guys always have and always will be overrated.

We can edit rosters, so for me it's not that big a deal.

It makes me wonder... pretend Stevie Johnson miraculously won the cover vote. Would they seriously bump his overall to a 90?

Question: What is the nature of the fumbles?

Peyton Hillis does not carry the ball loosely, whereas Ahmad Bradshaw is often seen with the ball away from his body.

If a ball carrier carries the ball like a loaf of bread, but only gets stripped a few times during a season he is still carrying the ball unsafely and should have a lower CAR rating. A player that routinely covers the ball, but takes a few hard hits that jar the ball loose should have a higher CAR rating even if he has less fumbles than another guy.

That is not how it should work at all--think about it. The only thing the carry rating does is affect how often a player fumbles, correct? So if a player ran with three fingers on the ball but only fumbled once all year, while another player ran with the ball entrenched between two arms and held as close to his body as possible, but fumbled ten times, does the one who fumbles once really deserve a lower rating? No, because even though he carries it in a way that should make it easier to fumble, he fumbles less, AKA he has a better ability to not fumble.

                            yes

Allowing a cover vote was a stupid idea. The only round I voted for Hillis was against Vick...and I'm a Browns fan.

Like EA will even think of this haha yeah right. Regardless of how they carry it the fact is, he fumbled 8 times in one season rather it be from a big hit or a strip he still fumbled so therefore his carry rating should get lowered.
