Biggest surprise recruits you landed?
In my dynasty for South Florida I had 4/6 of my receivers leaving me due to graduation/draft. My other two were juniors that luckily decided to stay. The best recruit on the boards was one that I created at WR. Somehow we snuck up and beat Texas, Auburn, and Alabama to the punch. I can't redshirt him since he is my starter but hopefully he'll put up big numbers. Also, he is a return man which is amazing since one of my receivers that left had that job. Did you nail any big recruits from a top program? Tell your story.Tags: None -

I once grabbed a 4 star running back as Washington State who was interested in boise state. This guy was truly a program changer too, he had a 96 speed and could break tackles like it was nothing.Los Angeles Lakers
San Diego Chargers

Sweet! When I recruit I usually like to get speedy backs. You can pound them through the tackles and break out to the sidelines or you can use the famous pitch.Comment

Re: Biggest surprise recruits you landed?
In my First year at Eastern Michigan I was able to pull a 4* Rb from Texas that helped me build that program. But I left after 2 years and not sure how is career ended without me as the OC..And then at Iowa State as a 2 star school, I went head to head with Texas and Ohio State to snag a 4* TE who I converted to WR..Dude was 6'4 235 and was mid 80's in almost everything..He was straight Beast Mode, it was funny when he caught the ball and watching how much bigger he was than the CB.Comment

Re: Biggest surprise recruits you landed?
As 2 star Washington state, about week 5 I noticed nobody was recruiting the #1 HB!! I put everything I had into him and made it to number 1, after that, his number 2 Alabama offered so I was sure I lost him. Ended up landing him in the first week of the off season!! Little did I know I was about to be fired, I still keep track of him, but the new Coach doesn't use him nearly enough!!WVU Mountaineers Detroit Lions Baltimore Orioles Boston Celtics Chicago BlackhawksComment

Re: Biggest surprise recruits you landed?
First year as Wake Forest (**) where I went 7-6. I landed the #6 QB in the country (4 star).
How did I do it? Recruiting was All-American, but for some reason no one had gone after this QB at all by around week 10 of the season. I just happened to see him because I missed out on another QB prospect. He's a scrambler that also has a good arm, and has really stablaized my QB position.
Strangely, it was between me and Western Kentucky to get him until the offseason. Then FSU went after him (who was previously his #1 school) because EJ Manuel went pro. Luckily, I got two timely 2x bonuses during the recruiting process, and I landed him on Week 5 of offseason recruiting.

Re: Biggest surprise recruits you landed?
One thing I enjoy are surprises in signed recruits, the 5* busts, the off the charts attributes not showing during recruiting. For example, signed what I thought was a fairly average 4* WR at Ohio State, my first HC gig after being USC OC for 4 seasons.
Guy starts playing like Michael Jordan, outjumping everyone for balls and becomes my leading receiver. Looked and found he had a 97 jumping attribute, an attribute not disclosed during recruiting so far as I can recall. Nice surprise.Comment
