Once again, the lack of medical redshirts irritates me.
2nd game of the season, Vincent Smith goes down for 8 weeks. Next game, Denard Robinson goes down for 11 weeks. They would have both been eligible for a medical redshirt, but EA doesn't want to spend 20 minutes to write 50 lines of code to implement them.
Thanks, EA!Tags: None -
Re: Once again, the lack of medical redshirts irritates me.
Sucks they're not in the game, but how about just going in and editing the player's YR so they have one more year of eligibility? Seems like an easy enough workaround. -
Re: Once again, the lack of medical redshirts irritates me.
I'm pretty sure you can't edit their class.
Same thing happen with me, Week 1 RB Ray Graham breaks his hand and is estimated to be out 5 weeks. He ends up not coming back until Week 14. Total waste of a year.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins
MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates
AFL: Pittsburgh Power
NCAA: PITT Panthers

Re: Once again, the lack of medical redshirts irritates me.
Here are your options basically:
1. Turn injuries off.
2. Re-start the game if you have an 8 or 11 week injury.
3. Just deal with the injuries, and be like me and just keep praying they put them in NEXT year FINALLY

Re: Once again, the lack of medical redshirts irritates me.
Seems the game does give medical redshirts sometimes. My fifth yr senior OT was injured on the first play of the season and missed the whole year (no stats), and then voila! There he was the next year, still on my roster. Weird.Comment

Yeah I am sure that is merely a 20 minute, 50 line fix.Comment

Re: Once again, the lack of medical redshirts irritates me.
In most cases that I've seen going down for 8 games will not make a player eligible for a medical redshirt in real life.Comment

Re: Once again, the lack of medical redshirts irritates me.
You can't edit classes within your dynasty yet, but I think they're adding that ability in with the next patch.
As for the guidelines to qualify for a medical hardship waiver:
1. The injury has to happen during the first half of the season
2. The player has to have played at least 1 game, but not more than 20% (or maybe 30%, I've seen both numbers) of games in the season. So in a 12 game season, if the player plays in more than 3 games, they wouldn't be eligible.
Those are really the only 2 that would apply in this game.Comment

Right, i was just going to say that. I dont think that #1 is really a guideline, i think it mainly follows the 2nd one. I remember a few years back, Travis Beckum got hurt at Wis in the 2nd or 3rd game of the year, and would have been eligible for a redshirt, but chose to go pro instead. You can't edit classes within your dynasty yet, but I think they're adding that ability in with the next patch.

Doesn't sound like a tough programming job to me and I work in web based software development. But hey, if your compulsion for backing EA at every turn is THAT strong, back away.Comment

If it's that easy then why isn't in the game? I think you underestimate the difficulty in it.

Re: Once again, the lack of medical redshirts irritates me.
Probably because EA views it as a low priority.
You already have the code for adding and removing red shirts and for having injuries in the game. Make a condition to where if a player gets injured under certain guidelines the player can slap a red shirt on the player. Relabel this new red shirt as a medical red shirt. The real code writing at least from my perspective would be the middle of the season aspect to it. Even then you still have the code for removing red shirts in the middle of the season so why not flip it around and allow a player to add if certain conditions are met.
EA could go one step further by allowing an option for anytime medical red shirt placements as well that way people can follow along with the actual real life season applying medical red shirts as needed to those injured in real life.Comment
