Which NFL team has/had the best nickname? I only listed the ones that are nationally known.

I went Steel Curtain. But Monsters of the Midway, Purple People Eaters, Fearsome Foursome, and Orange Crush are all close seconds.

I went with Monsters of the Midway but it was very close with The Steel Curtain for me.

BTW I don't recall Big Blue Wrecking Crew as the Giants nickname in that era. It was simply Big Blue from what I heard.

Air Coryell - Chargers teams under Coryell but specifically 1978-83

Luv Ya Blue! - Oilers of the late '70s under Bum Philips

Gang Green - Another nickname for the Jets during their Sack Exchange days

I went with Monsters of the Midway but it was very close with The Steel Curtain for me.

I heard the team in general was called Big Blue, Wrecking Crew was just for the defense. And likewise, I had never heard of the Oilers called Luv Ya Blue. I had a hard time deciding between Gang Green and New York Sack Exchange. I went with NYSE because it was more unique to the city. Gang Green also applied to the Eagles in the late 80s-early 90s.

I seriously loathe the Cowboys and their pretentious attitude, so I picked the nickname for them that doesn't convey that they are the single greatest assembly of athletes this country has ever seen.

Now that that is out of the way, in hindsight I should have included a "Other" option.

so you left out the best nickname on purpose? youre not jealous that all the other teams in the NFC East have at least 3 SB wins and philly has none?

j/k we'll still call you the "dream team" even if y'all dont win, im surprised you didnt have that on the list either.

I hate "The Dream Team" moniker just as much as "America's Team". And seeing as how that nickname was coined by a mediocre backup with a bad reputation, it doesn't really apply to the poll. You can call them the Dream Team if you want, I'll stick with the Eagles.

EDIT: And I hated the Cowboys long before I liked the Eagles, so that has nothing to do with it. It has to do with them winning 1 playoff game since 1996 and still calling themselves "America's Team". America doesn't want an average team who's biggest span of success was 4 decades ago. But again, that's just me expressing my hatred of them. Deep down I know that they're successful, and I guess even deeper down I have a small amount of respect for them and the success that they undoubtedly had over the years. So no, I didn't leave out the "best nickname ever" out of jealousy.

That is easily the worst nickname for a team in all of sports outside of Cowboys fans
