Why Charles Barkley Isn’t Appearing in NBA 2K12

In a follow up article we linked to the other day, Kotaku has revealed why Charles Barkley isn’t appearing in NBA 2K12.

2K Sports attempted to include basketball great Charles Barkley in NBA 2K12's "NBA's Greatest" mode, showcasing dozens of superstars spanning the game's history, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement bringing the hall-of-famer to the video game. He will not appear in NBA 2K12.

"There's no doubt in our minds that Charles is and should always be a key part of the conversation as it relates to who are the NBA's Greatest players of all time," a 2K Sports spokesperson told Kotaku. "We have a very positive relationship with Sir Charles and while we were unable to include him in-game this year for a variety of reasons, we share everyone's hope that he may one day appear in our game."

Too bad there are too many, "He may this" and "It may be that". Definitive answers would be nice, but the authors and Charles don't owe us anything. He's not in, and we can move on...until next year.

Too bad there are too many, "He may this" and "It may be that". Definitive answers would be nice, but the authors and Charles don't owe us anything. He's not in, and we can move on...until next year.

Keeping my fingers crossed that in the future they can include in a "Dream Team" type scenario. They already have all the others except him and Laettner (who shouldn't be hard to sign.

Oh the days of NBA Live 97, where you could type something in and then a light-skinned black guy who went to Auburn would magically be there.

Wow, this Barkley issue has become bigger than any other article about the game. 2K should have created a trailer showing Barkley and saying "He will not be there on Oct. 4". It would have drawn much more attention to the game.

Doesnt even have to be that though, that might cause legal issues

but hey you cant sue if a variety of facial features, brows, noses, mustaches, mouths, etc... happened to be there and if you got the puzzle right, you just happened to make a generic look alike with your "editing skills"

I know right. They could have said, "Places Charles Barkley will not be found", then show a picture of a treadmill at a YMCA, then show the NBA 2K12 logo.
