Seems to me that's a much more expensive hobby that people are ok putting a lot of money into....weird how analogies sometimes work against your point.

Either way, you're right about the freezing thing, i'm not discounting that, but if other things in my life break, i just replace them. You obviously can't replace NCAA with another working NCAA (because it doesn't exist for you) so just replace it with something else entirely. Move on and don't stress about things you can't control.
Actually the analogy did work out fine . It's only purpose was to show that with other hobbies where you need some kind of product to perform the hobby then in many of those cases there is a way to resolve the problem. The actual money is a non issue for the purposes of that analogy. Just to argumentative though, buying a bike and later replacing some piece that is broken isn't necessarily more expensive either. Initial costs are greater at both points, but a decent road bike priced at around $600 will probably last at least 2 years before anything major goes wrong. So you would only need to buy 10 games over that 2 year period to make the hobbies equal which seems fairly realistic. :P

I do agree people don't really need to stress out about this, but I think that is reading too much into what people are saying. Also, any implication that people shouldn't complain about a product they spent a decent amount of money for is wrong imo.

I'll concede that. Look, i don't agree with some people's opinions. Doesn't make me right. It doesn't mean they aren't allowed to express it. To me there's no need to burn calories on this unless the patch doesn't come out at all or worse, comes out and doesn't fix enough. I'm getting laid into pretty hard for saying the complaints are being overblown, and i think i deserve it. That's what having different opinions during a discussion leads to, and until OS makes me king my opinion isn't worth more than anybody else's. Like i said, i'm a blowhard with time on my hands, it just so happens this is my outlet.

The 1st is on Thursday. There's still time. Though I don't expect it until the first full week of September.

What did we all do then? We kept playing, and getting the most out of the game. Came up with house rules if it was really annoying...we did whatever we had to to make sure we can overcome and enjoy the game.

                Today we have patches.

People easily forget last gen, when we had no choice. We either accepted the imperfections (which every sports game enounter because...it is a video game and not real life) or a programming bug of some sort that comes up when you put enough hours into a game. We kept playing, and enjoying our franchises.

What the heck has happened here?

Yes the game has warts and bugs. But I am in year 3....with named rosters and having an amazing time. And I know there are hundreds of thousands of NCAA 12 players out there that are too.

OS has become a tiny island in a vast ocean that "so called" hard core sports gamers come and gather to wallow in their frustrations that they can't get a realistic game experience or this is broken or that is not working right and placebo effect this.....oh my goodness.

And it is on every sub forum here. Even for the so-called greatest sports games of our lives (The Show 2011, NBA 2K11).

Everyone has a right to express their opinions. But the core disfunction that has really plagued this great community is the intense, loud and immature posts that have spread like a disease and have infested and trolled what are meant to be informational threads as well as mature and intelligent discussions about our great sports games of today.

Think what you all want about EA, or 2K basketball or EA NHL or whatever.

We have never had so good with sports video games......ever. I don't care what the negative voices keep bitching about.

Everyone holds on to memories of yesteryear because yeah....there were some great games....back then! But now? They can't hold a candle to what we have.

                My opinion.

The patch will get here. And I feel bad if your stuck in this misery of not being able to play this game. I just can't understand that line of thinking. The game is extremely playable. I don't get it.

Guess I am either too old to care or maybe I am blissfully ignorant.

                It's a video game.....nothing more...nothing less. Life is short.

You would be much better off just asking for dramatically improved A.I.

Until the A.I. is at least somewhat intelligent in its play calling and decision-making the cpu needs these cheats and any other artificial boosts in order to be competitive.

I used to not be able to DVR episodes of House every week as well but that doesn't mean if my DVR doesn't work right I just say screw it I missed that episode. Things were one way, and they improved. Don't be content that they will eventually patch it. Be upset that a game was rushed out before the bugs were worked out just to hit a deadline. It doesn't mean we can't play the game, it just means that it isn't up to the standards it should be.

There is no doubt sports games have improved but being content and lackadaisical as you want everyone to be allows companies to take their time and not worry about customer service.

I agree with most everything you said in your original post but I just want to say that if NCAA 12 had been anywhere near the quality of The Show 11 or 2k11, we would have no room to complain. Problem is, it is nowhere near the quality of those games and there are legitimate problems. NCAA looks like freakin Pong compared to those games.

And I don't want to hear the BS about how they're competing with other non-sports, non-football games.

That's like saying the NFL on Fox's main competitor is QVC Jewlery Bonanza rather than CBS, NBC or ESPN's coverage of the NFL.

I understand EA pays the NCAA for this agreement, I'm curious as to when it would become detrimental to the NCAA to have an inferior product. When the game doesn't sell, would the NCAA chose not to renew?

Does anyone know when the first exclusive licensing agreement for sports games occurred?
How would it be a monopoly. The NFL owns their intellectual property. They can market and distribute it as they want.

I can deal with game play issues such as, QBs holding the ball too long or the issues with 4 verts. What I can't deal with are the bugs. The tendency issue is inexcusable. The freezing is inexcusable. The dynasty progression issue is disgusting.

How can anyone else make a competing NCAA football or NFL football game when EA owns an exclusive license? Personally, I don't see other sports games or shooters, etc as other suitable goods.

I understand the NFL owns the IP; I just think it's wrong that they agree to the license in the first place.

But hell, we all know the NFL hates any form of competition unless it's amongst themselves.

I'm not arguing the point that it's legal, I'm arguing whether it's ethical.

I am not pro exclusivity. Not sure why it wouldn't be ethical. Its their property their business. I dont see an ethics issue. Multiple licensed football games aren't a God given right.

While I'd love to see it opened up again, I'd really be against governmental intervention forcing them to open up the license. That's a slippery slope IMO.
