It definately has its problems (1 is a strange audio thing where Gus either refers much of the players by thier # or calls them the wrong name completely) and like Chase said with the recievers interaction with the cornerbacks. The lack of penalties especially pass interference have me shaking my head. Last years madden had flashes of "wow that looked and felt like real football" this year it happens way more. DPP helps the game immensely. Imo if they fix the reciever and corner interaction (recievers need to fight for the ball while in the air as do the corners) and sometimes trying to catch the ball triggers "sideline catch" animation when not needed. But overall I am enjoying the game alot

Crazy thing is im enjoying this madden way more than any others in the past this generation. Usually I buy madden cant stand playing it and then trade it in after a week or so. This madden I actually think im gonna keep and play until the next one.

What does DPP mean? I've seen that mentioned a lot lately.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Reviewer: First Impressions
Because it is a very complex sport with 22 players on the field that are always active and doing different things based on what the opposition is doing.
When you couple that with the fact people want head tracking, feet planting, refs, 3d grass, etc. etc. then it gets even tougher.
And that's not even mentioning any bells and whistles and modes, that's just straight up 11v11 being a very hard thing to replicate.Comment

Dynamic player performance Pappy. It makes the players play more like themselves. Like A Peterson is known to fumble so if you play with or against him and he fumbles he will start to cover the ball and go down easier (ll). It applies to all positions like Eli throwing interceptions,Vick running instead looking for the open man or Db's playing more conservative after being burntComment

My opinion of this "General" overview article is this...If the game sucks, point it out. If it's really improved, tell us where. The problem I see in rating this game very good is the online aspects of the game "Online Franchise" went untouched. No slider adjustments can be made online, nothing.
I just do not see how the game can rank very high no matter the changes or improvements made to offline due to that. The should have learned from college football that gamers play online now. The days of playing offline franchises still exist, yes, but the proof (Online Franchise) is in the pudding. They should have at the very least brought the online portion of the game up to speed with the offline before making any further additions to offline franchise. Had they done that, and added custom sliders alone, this game would have been rated much higher in my opinion than what it will end up getting.Comment

This is true
Back to Madden -- I've got a huge write-up I'm working on about the gameplay. If you guys aren't satisfied about the depth of that one tomorrow, then I have nothing more to offer you except a novel or sevenComment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Reviewer: First Impressions
At least he doesn't say it seems like Madden "is still a year away". I've heard that one way too much. From the sounds of it this sounds like MAdden and like every madden before it. Baby steps. It improves in areas and other areas it leaves room for improvement. At least EA isn't here saying "these games are really hard to make, and you don't understand our pain and the time constraints we are under". I'm tired of that one too. If it's so hard to make and such a chore then let someone else make it. Fifa doesn't have these issues. But yeah.
This is MAdden. It's a solid 7.5 or 8 every year. It's an improvement but isn't that definative football game anyone is looking for. If you like Madden then go for it.
It reminiscent of mlb 2k which both games have a license. That's the only similarity and constant I keep coming back to. That is the issue. EA and 2k paid for a license and only have so much money to allocate for each title. So since they had these locked up their focus went elsewhere to try to sell the other games. Fifa doesn't have a license and has competition so in order to increase their sales across the board they made that a better game. It's slight and Madden is still a good game, but noticeable.
It is what is keeping this game from being a 9 instead of an 7.5 or 8. It's all relative ultimately. If there was even more competition a 9 these days wouldn't even be a 9.Last edited by Celtic34; 08-26-2011, 04:19 PM.Comment

WOW opening the article with a comment on the menus? Really? I care about the freaking menus? That being said...sounds like frustration to me. This will sit in the wrapping until I see how major a patch is due out (since I'm still waiting for my NCAA Patch and have played only 4 games two months later).
I just don't have much faith in this series any more...I sincerely hope I am proven wrong.Comment

Front Page Sports Football with Barry Sanders on the cover!!! That was my favorite game for a while. You could change game plans at half time. It even had highlights from other games. The draft was fun. For its time the graphics were great too. Ahh...the good ol days.Comment

All I see on this site is how madden failed again. But if you look at it, they are doing good. Maybe one of the reasons FIFA, NBA2k, or MLBshow is better is because there are not as many things going on at the same time. In football you have 22 guys all doing different things at once. Other sports like nba2k can make big leaps because they only have ten to worry about.Comment
