Ethics doesn't necessarily have to pertain to God given unalienable rights. At it's base it relates to right and wrong.
Competitive markets are the foundation of capitalism. Right now, there is not a competitive market when it comes to either NFL or NCAA football video games.
I don't think limiting the consumer from purchasing a suitable good and similar quality product is fair. You can argue whether or not COD is similar to NCAA football, but personally I don't think it is.
Is a Lady Gaga album the same as one from the Beatles? They're both music...
But I agree, I think the government has enough real issues on their hands. They don't need to get involved in video game politics.
I just wish EA would end this exclusivity license. I don't think it's right to limit longtime, loyal customers into buying an inferior product, a product that with competition would be improved.
I believe packaging minimal improvements and bugs/errors in the game as "new and improved" (because you can thanks to your license) is morally wrong.
At what point did it become more about making the $$$$ big bucks $$$$, getting as many sales as you can, squeezing every last dollar out of your customer? I feel it should be about providing a benefit to your consumer and turning a profit in return. To me it's a little bit sleazy, an unethical business plan.
You might not see it that way, which is fine, you're welcome to your own opinion, that's just my take.
