Re: EA Sports' Season Ticket Hears Crickets on Debut Day (Kotaku)

I normally don't buy Madden, but I am a huge NHL and FIFA fan as well as NCAA. I got the season pass mainly to get on NHL and FIFA early to get going on my OTP player to get him better. I have been playing Madden a ton though, and I am even tempted to pick the game up after this trial.

For me I figure it is cheaper than renting the games at blockbuster, or getting a gamefly account for the 4 or 5 months that EA releases games just to try them out. It's about 5 dollars a game for NCAA, Madden, NHL, FIFA, and Tiger Woods. Pretty good deal especially if someone buys DLC later on.
    NHL: Vegas Golden Knights
    NCAAF: Ohio State
    NFL: Minnesota Vikings
    MLB: Chicago Cubs

This is really ironic and very funny in many ways.

Nevertheless, I'm glad I signed up for the Season Ticket. I have some friends over to watch tonight's Texans game, and we've been having a blast. The cheap SOB's even paid for the pizza and beer for a change ( ), so as far as I'm concerned the ST has paid for itself.

Right because giving consumers options is a bad thing. I swear some people litereally just pop off without an ounce of thought.

Because designing, developing and marketing Season Ticket cost EA nothing.

                    C'mon man.

Well they didn't market it, so that cost them nothing.

The heck are you talking about?

Do you think David Rutter made that video on his spare time for free? Did he film, edit it and put that together himself? Did that webpage just appear without cost? Do you think the advertising inclusions in the Madden and NHL demos just randomly appeared without any work needing to be done?

                        Again, C'MON MAN.

edit* wrong link, can't seem to find the one David Rutter did where he explained it. Regardless, that's yet a second video about the mode. Don't tell me they didn't market it. These things don't just appear for free.

Funny joke, do you have a point? No.

There's plenty of costs involved here that you aren't seeing. At the suggested income of 162K of the person I initially quoted, I wouldn't be surprised for a second if that came at a loss to EA.

Anyone who's worked in a corporate environment with a project of that scope would understand that.

If you say so. If you want to believe you know more than anyone else does, have at it.

I too fail to understand why people seem personally offended by this Season Ticket, and seem to wish it wasn't an option at all. Aren't options a good thing? Assuming none of us are forced to buy it at gun point, I really don't see the downside. They're really just giving guys like me, who are willing to spend a little extra cash, an extra weekend with several highly anticipated games.
