Anyone know how to download the roster updates from XBL with a silver account?

Apparently you can't. Last year you could go into the xbox live option in the game and select depth chart, upon which the game would let you download the new rosters, however you can't do that this year. And since it seems you need to go into an online game to download the rosters, us silver members are **** out of luck this year. I'm hoping for a change or update or something which lets silver users get the roster, because it seems totally unfair for us to pay for the game but not get what I would argue is a key part of a yearly sports franchise.
Other than hoping they change it, the only ways to get rosters, assuming you don't want to spend money on gold, is to either get a free gold trial (apparently making a new profile gets you a month) or downloading the rosters from here which certain members kindly post. It does mean having to do some rehashing/resigning with modio however. -

Ugh...stupid EA...I can't believe they took that function out this year. I would also agree that the new rosters are a HUGE part of the game and hope they will fix this. Thanks for the help anyway.Comment

No problem, I reckon that this was an oversight rather than by design (optimistic i know) as this has been in every other year. One of the developers said a while back that roster updates 'should be' available to silver members. They sure have been putting a lot of emphasis on the fact that they will be updating the rosters every week and making it the best they can etc etc etc, so it does seem odd that not everyone can get these updates they seem so proud of putting out.
I would try and the dev team an email regarding it to see if I get a stock comment back like 'we can confirm that roster updates are not available this year to silver members' or something, at least then we would know if they meant for it to be this way, but i don't know where to look for email addresses.Comment

hey as a new silver user (money is tight for the next few weeks) i was bummed about this too. but i just tried the usb drive thing with some mlb 2k11 rosters and it is VERY VERY easy to do and with the great community on this site people will be posting the madden rosters for sure.
after reading the guide in the other post downloading everything and using an old sd card and my blackberry as the usb drive i did it all successfully in about 5 minutes
