Does the game require either an external HD or the 250 GB internal HD for Highlights to be displayed?

You must have a hard drive to access the highlights feature or see the end of game highlights; not sure about the end of quarter highlights though. -

That is correct, and you will still see the end of quarter cutscenes with guys patting each other on the helmet and stuff, but you will not see highlights from the actual game.Comment

Yep. I'm confirming all the replies here. I have the same system and have not been able to see any highlights or save them ever. Another ploy to over spend on a silly drive.
External drive is not a work around either.Comment

There is a workaround! I have an old 360 20gb HD and you can strip it out of it's case and place it into the slot in your 360 Slim console. You will be able to save your highlights once you format the old HDComment

And since no one has said it yet, the 4GB of memory in the xbox is flash memory, not a 4 GB hard drive.
