NCAA Hockey Videogame On the Way? - Operation Sports Forums

Hey everyone,

We’re excited to announce that we have launched our own official Operation Sports app. It’s available on the iOS App Store and in the Google Play store:

For those of you who have been around these parts for quite some time, you might know we’ve had an app before, but the Tapatalk app was not “official” and was only a way to look at the forums on your phone. However, when the forums changed in any way, it would make that app a bit unwieldy/buggy.

It was still better than nothing, and we’re grateful it lasted as long as it did, but we did not have much control over it or ways to update it. With our own official app, we’ll be able to actually release app updates that can include new features and bug fixes.

On the app, you will be able to scope out both the front page and the forums. Since this is only the start of the app, we are aware of many known issues, particularly around the forums, and we plan to add more to it in the future based on your feedback. In addition, it may take a little longer than usual when you log-in for the first time, but it should not be the case after that initial log-in. With all that in mind, we’ll have a spot on Discord where you can provide feedback.

For example, I want to add more to the forums side of things so you all have more options when making posts and threads on the app, and I want you to more easily be able to navigate large threads with many pages of posts.

As always, we can’t do any of this stuff without you all, so thanks again for the continued support. This app along with the Discord are a couple of the steps we have taken recently to try and bring this community together in as many ways as possible, and we plan to deliver even more on that front in the months ahead.

I agree with others that have said they don't believe an NCAA hockey game would sell well on it's own.

Also as others have said...I gotta believe a college game would almost have to be incorporated into the NHL game. Maybe just as "Play now" teams? Kinda hard to imagine that there would be space for a full blown college game experience. Including all the recruiting etc..

I'm just hoping if they've got room for college teams...hey, how about some classic teams?...like the Whalers, North Stars, Rockies, Jets, etc...

There were 58 D1 programs at the beginning of last season. One or two might be folding in the next couple of years.

The only one I can see folding is Alabama-Huntsville, and Penn State is starting their program. Moorehead might also add.

I REALLY hope that NCAA teams get added in this game at some point. I enjoy college hockey more than the NHL, would be fun to play with NCAA teams in the game!

The only thing is that the arenas would be generic and it would just kind of take away from the experience. I'm not sure what they would do with bands and the students either. I wouldn't complain though because I have wanted a college hockey game for so long. Also it would be really cool for me because I work for the St. Cloud State hockey team and it would just be cool using all of the players in the game since I know all of them. Obviously the rosters wouldn't be named though because of the NCAA rules. We would have some mad tournaments in the locker room if college hockey ever gets into the NHL game.

Agreed, it wouldn't be the full experience, but it would just be fun to beat St. Cloud in video game form

Hahaha you're talking to a lifetime Gopher fan until I decided to go to St. Cloud for college. It was a pretty tough transition cheering for SC over the Gophs. It's a whole lot easier now since I work for the team, and the Gophers haven't been so great the past few years.

Yep Guentzal is the man. I'm really good friends with his family. He was actually my assistant coach in Bantams. If things don't turn around this year or the next, I wouldn't be surprised to see Lucia fired and Guentzal named head coach.

Even if things turn around, I don't see tDon staying for more than 5 years or so, with his health issues. I think they've all but assured Guentzel that he will be the next coach.

Don't see this happening, at least not as a complete addition to the NHL game. That would be like combining Madden and NCAA Football in one game. What I could see them doing though is taking a few of the big name teams and adding it to BAP to allow your player to get drafted out of the CHL or NCAA.

It actually wouldn't be like putting Madden and NCAA together at all. There would be no way that they would nail down all of the glitz and glamour that college hockey has. There's just way too much stuff that the NHL team would have to do in order to accomplish that. It would literally be a mode exactly like the CHL where the atmosphere and gameplay is just very basic. NCAA football has all of the glitz and glamour that college football has. It's completely focused on what college football is like. NHL would most likely never do that with college hockey. Obviously there will never be a separate college hockey game for obvious reasons. Comparing NCAA football going into Madden and College hockey going into NHL is in no way shape or form a comparison that should ever be made.
