As far as it being normal in later seasons, I haven't checked but one guy in this thread tested 4 seasons with the Chiefs and reported his results and the issue seems to still be present although he had seasons better than others. I would be willing to bet that his better seasons had an earlier BYE week. Rain in road games also seems to be predicated on whether your opponent has had their BYE week yet.
I don't think it has to do with the bye week. In the first season I simmed the first game after the bye was raining and at home. In the second season only had 1 rain game at home the whole season and it was in week 2. In the third season the first two home games were clear and then the next was rain.

It definitely appears like its an early season bug but then there is anomalies where it doesn't rain at all in the preseason. Here's to hoping they fix it asap.

To be clear, I never said that every game before the BYE would rain and every game after would not, just that the overabundance of rainy games seemed to cut off at the Bye week, i.e. after the bye week the distribution of rainy games goes back to normal, which is not invalidated by the fact that the first game after the Bye has rain in certain cases.

In 3 of my 4 test runs the team I was testing had 1 or 2 rainy games from the Bye to the end of the season and in one case the one rainy game was the week right after the Bye.

Hopefully this can be patched to allow the user to control the weather, but I'm a little relieved this problem becomes less an issue as the season/seasons progress. I just played my first reg. season game (skipped the preseason) as the Steelers @ Ravens and it was raining.

FYI; I don't want it so that I can set the weather. While that might be better than having predetermined weather, I still think it should be randomized, with odds weighed in favor of certain cities at certain types of year.
I mean, I've been playing with Madden since the mid-90's. They've always been able to do this before. The "Madden"ing thing about this is, "Why would they change something they've done correctly all these years?"
And as I and others point out.. This just completely undoes the great job with dramatic lighting that the Devs apparently worked so hard on.
To whomever at EA is reading this...You're shooting yourself in the foot.

It appears that for the Chiefs atleast that the rain does tail off in later seasons at least at home. I can't speak for any other teams since I've only simmed for the Chiefs.

I don't know who said it before but it does seem that there is no light rain just heavy downpours. I've only seen a couple overcast games and they were in the same season. I've seen no snow yet through five seasons.

I wish EA would stop re-tweeting all of the people that say it's the best game ever and reply to an actual issue here.

This should get fixed before Madden 13. An entire year can't be lost dealing with rain in franchise. Customization solves a lot of issues.

                How to stop the rain

In franchise instead of playing the game through the play game option go to your team schedule and open up the games (5 games at home no rain)

Out of curiosity, what team are you using? It's been reported that this weather bug only affects certain teams.

Also, are you starting the game from the team schedule screen specifically? What about the league schedule screen?

Just tested this with the Browns, has rained in 7 straight home openers with the Bengals in trying different work arounds.

                      And.....

                      It still is.... LOL

                            Well there you have it.

The Panthers, as I understand it, aren't one of the affected teams.

                            Miami, Oakland, Cleveland.

Add Giants to the list. I had rain every single game, home or away. Only time I didnt was dome games, and the playoffs.
