That video looked really good. I'm actually pleasantly surprised it looked as good as it did. Couple of things though. I still saw a couple times where the back checker would skate right next to the player with the puck and not try to poke check or do anything to try to take or knock the puck away. That actually annoys me quite a bit. The only other thing I've noticed so far is that after goals the cut scenes are really bad. It doesn't even show any celebration from the player. It just goes to a cut scene of the goalie skating or fans jumping around. That's nothing to do with gameplay, just a bit annoying. The passing can easily be tuned with sliders so I'm not worried with that at all. Other than those two things right now, the game looks pretty good.

I hear you. I was hoping that the demo wasn't accurate to what the final build would be in that regard. The only other thing I've noticed so far is that after goals the cut scenes are really bad. It doesn't even show any celebration from the player. It just goes to a cut scene of the goalie skating or fans jumping around. That's nothing to do with gameplay, just a bit annoying.
It cuts too quickly to the crowd and opposing goalie.
Let me see the guys celebrate a little bit longer.Comment

Ya I mean it's fine if they show the goalie skating (they did it last year at the tail end of the goal before the faceoff) and the crowd cheering, but do it after the teammates celebrate and go down the bench line. It's just a tad bit irritating. I guess custom celebrations aren't as big of a deal anymore to them after they added that feature last year. It looks like they almost took it out of the game.NHL-Minnesota Wild

Re: NHL 12 Videos - Islanders vs. Rangers (CPU vs. CPU)
The thing that kills cpu v cpu mode (and I've always been a cpu v cpu player) is the lack of any fights in this mode. I've banged onto EA for the past few years without success....I love to play this way, I do for all of my games, but although the gameplay is pretty realistic the lack of fighting kills the authenticty and stats for me.
Hopefully EA can look into this and patch it up for NHL 12. Other than that the game plays pretty well in this mode.Last edited by Ninjoid; 09-06-2011, 01:34 PM.Dedicated member of the CPU v CPU worldwide brethren.Comment

Hmm.
So they can alter the vector logo to the Reebok wordmark on all the jersey backs but they can't be bothered to put the Isles 40th anniversary patch on the sleeve?
Sheesh, EA. Would it have been so hard? I'm pretty sure it's going to be worn on the road as well.Comment

See the one thing I've never liked is that they don't pay attention to those little details that make the game that much better. One reason why The Show is good is because of all the little things. The patches on jerseys, the ballparks all look like there real life counter part, the faces of each player (not just the superstars). It's all of those things that make that game so great. If the NHL team did that, it would really make me look past some of the flaws on the gameplay side. That's what I do with The Show, although the gameplay is pretty darn good anyway. I just remember the last gen NHL's and how they would show a man proposing to his girlfriend, fans catching a puck, career milestone celebrations, etc. I want those little details back in the game. It just makes the game more exciting and fresh.

I know exactly what you mean, The Show is phenomenal in this regard. It just really frustrates that the EA Devs can't get the NHL jerseys spot on. Center-ice licenses can be forgiven, but how hard can it be keep abreast of a change like this? The patch I'm talking about was unveiled at the draft - there can be no valid excuse.See the one thing I've never liked is that they don't pay attention to those little details that make the game that much better. Perhaps they should rename it UHL / EASHL 12, because the NHL itself isn't getting the due care and attention to detail that fans of the league expect.Comment

It would actually be awesome to have the offline game be a completely separate title. If only it were possible...I know exactly what you mean, The Show is phenomenal in this regard. I shouldn't have watched this video. Yeah, the stale presentation stands out, but the gameplay actually looked solid.
I'm like a fish out of water with this game, flip-flopping all over the place. I can't even take myself seriously anymore.Currently Playing:
