Is Madden the answer this year for football gaming?

I am an avid college football fan and fan of the NCAA College Football title, but this year they have a tremendous amount of errors and issues that were supposed to be fixed in Patch 2 and weren't. I have not yet played Madden 12, and haven't played the game franchise in a few years. However, for those of you that do (and play NCAA as well), do you consider Madden to be a better game overall and have less problems with it? I understand that Madden is an EA product and subject to the same enormous amount of errors that seem to always make it past testing (or the lack there of). But, in terms of wanting a football game to play that actually works and doesn't need a ton of work, is Madden the way to go based upon your experiences? Thanks for the opinions.

Madden is fairly decent, but it still leaves alot to be desired. Like special teams. Look at last night Packers vs. Saints, you won't see that type of electrifying special teams.

This is the first year since Bill Walsh that I didn't buy NCAA because I am tired of EA releasing buggy games and when I read the fiasco that is NCAA, I passed. I read Madden was alot better, so I bought it on special for $44. To me, it plays about the same as last years game. Special teams are bland, slants are still money plays, half the playbook isn't viable, etc.

And I will tell you this, if you are a huge NCAA Football fan, Madden probably won't fill that void.

To me, Madden 12 is like a delicious cake thats missing the icing and decorations on top (oh, and its got a few thumb tacks in it as well).

Despite it's bugs NCAA is the better game still. You won't be happy with Madden so I would recommend you stick with NCAA.

I've been away from Madden for 2 years, and luckily I downloaded the demo because I didn't think Madden could be this good. I've never played NCAA though so I can't compare the two.

Is Madden the answer? I think that depends on what's the question.

The game is decent and has shown some improvement, but it isn't anywhere near great IMO.

I'm only speaking gameplay wise as that is my focus. Not a franchise guy at all so I can't speak to that.

Please your own opinion because there's a lot of Madden haters. The best opinion is ALWAYS your own.

Madden actually reminds me a bit of NCAA with some similar bugs (player roles disappearing -Madden- vs player tendencies -NCAA-) and both have occasional freezing problems, Madden much less. Madden is less plagued by bugs, and personally I really like the franchise changes along with the game in general despite the moderate issues.

There are so many really cool additions and fun aspects to Madden this year that I am willing to overlook the flaws. NCAA is/was similar but the problems were more severe and there were more of them.

Re: Is Madden the answer this year for football gaming?

I find Madden less plagued by bugs and the graphics are clearly in another league. I found NCAA to be actually more fun to play, which I'm surprised about because I haven't bought NCAA in 7-8 years. NCAA is frustrating because they did a few things right and everything else a little bit wrong. Madden is frustrating because they did most things right and completely f-d up a few things. Pick your poison.

I would agree in many cases for Madden there will always be things to fix, although one things that I think has been obviously bad this time around on M12 are the announcers being innacurate(that can be fixed) But I think it is an imperfect game, and someone will always find something wrong with it.

My advice gamefly it and try it out.

I been plaing them both for several years now, usually get completely fed up with madden and stick to NCAA but this year so far it seems to be leaning the other way around. EA as only they could do took a solid product in NCAA and jammed tons of bugs and issues into it. It's as if they don't have the ability to just keep what works, tweak what dosnt and add new features to keep it fresh. IMO I would rent Madden see if it's what u hope it to be, and if u still desire NCAA wait and pick it up used as it will be dumped off at gamestop in boat loads, and by then hopefully they will have patched most of the issues.

Stick with whatever your preference was before. Both games have flaws.

Honestly, both games should have A grades by gaming communities and websites. They don't though, which is a shame. They're the only options we get. It really is just a question of which game will annoy, frustrate, become stale, and disappoint the least...

No, Madden isn't the answer to football gaming this year, and it hasn't been since the dead horse ( that I'm not going to beat) died. It's a definite improvement, but it's still missing too many things.

I think it's better than NCAA though.

I'm having fun with Madden for the first time in years. I was disappointed in NCAA 12 but it's all up to you. Everyone will feel a differently.

Despite Gus Johnson's disjointed commentary the presentation is a lot better (stat overlays, different angles, starting lineups, etc). The passing game is better imo - outside passing plays are more open and less super LB swats. I like the the quick RBs can juke in this game. Bigger backs truck. Madden has player traits which gives the game much needed personality, something I feel NCAA lacks.

This right here. I am loving Madden, even with its flaws. To me, it's just fun, bottom line. I actually traded NCAA for Madden and i haven't regretted it one second. I LOVE the running game in M12, and it will definitely give me my football fix for this year.
