Fantasy draft with any team. I'm sure you have favorite players, put them on your home town team.

Yankees, Red Sox work w/o fantasy draft.

I have this issue too. I have found that if I play with a young team with good young players a cool stadium and unis I play with them a lot longer and don't get bored quickly.

I love playing with the Florida Marlins.

Also like using Seattle Mariners for some reason. But mainly Florida Marlins, even though I am a BoSox fan.

Funny you should mention Seattle, Enigma. I felt like I needed to start fresh this year, as I had put in a lot of time to the New York Mets and Colorado Rockies (two favorite teams) franchises in MLB 10, so I went with Seattle.

Part of the reasoning was that I had been to Seattle on vacation a couple of years ago and caught a game at Safeco, but the other was that I liked the build of the team; a few stud players, lot of good minor league talent and veterans that had short-term contracts, making for good trade bait.

I played about 100 games and finished 71-91, good for last place in the AL West after a promising first half. It was an absolute blast, and now I'm entering Year 2 having just acquired Jose Bautista in free agency.

I think switching leagues or divisions up is helpful, as is finding a stadium that you want to spend a lot of time in.

The stadium is important because you play 81 game there. Add your own music too, as it makes it feel like home. Get a team that you enjoy from top to bottom or do a fantasy draft.

You know, me choosing Seattle was the exact reason you did. Went on vacation there two years ago for my girlfriend at the time, sister's wedding. While I did not get a chance to catch a game (they were playing at home against Baltimore, so I should have went) I fell in love with the city, and saw the stadium when I drove by next to it on my way to Pike Place Market.

And as with you, I like the decent build of the team and farm system without being overpowering within the game. Much the same with Florida. You got that one stud picture you look forward to using on each team every 5th day, while doing a lot of tip toeing with the rest of the staff. And playing more of a small ball like approach when hitting.

That's funny that so many of us do the same things. I went on vacation with my girlfriend to Akron Ohio. We went to an Indians game and I just fell in love with the stadium and the town. So as soon as I got home I started a franchise with the Indians and I have been having a blast.

Playing with a team that I am not pulling for or follow in real life has really helped me really enjoy and get involved in the franchise.

Same here, in fact, The Show is probably the reason I watch real-life Rays games in the first place. I wouldn't have much interest in the team if it wasn't for all the fun I've had playing as them in Franchise mode.
