Let me start this off by saying that I'm talking about the presentation of the game in terms of console power. I am NOT saying that we shouldn't be angry about the game being either broken or lacking quality and realism in certain categories. Back to the point, do we expect too much in presentation compared to what the PS3s and XBOX 360s can actually handle? My guess would be no because NBA 2K11 had a plethora of good stat overlays, but maybe football games take up more space than basketball. I'm just throwing ideas out there; I really have no idea. It seems to me, though, that if it were possible to have a fantastic presentation for these games then EA would almost HAVE to incorporate that somehow into NCAA Football 13 to try and appease all of the people that now hate them.

Re: Do we expect too much?
I'd say no... I'm not an NFL 2k5 homer or anything, but I clearly remember their overlays, commentary, and post-play camera angles being so much more TV like than anything EA has thrown out there in the 6 or 7 years since their exclusive license deal.
I like to think that NFL2k would've evolved into just as solid of a series as NBA2k is today... which is considered the best sports game series imo other than FIFA.XBL GT: SoulAssassin925 -
Re: Do we expect too much?
NBA 2K11 is without a doubt the best sports game I have ever played. It's no contest. I really think that the people are just lazy, though. It's too bad that they have the exclusive rights. These college football games could be so much more.Comment

Absolutely not. Look at NBA 2k and look at mlb the show, those games look identical to real life. They play pretty much identical to real life. NCAA basically does neither.Comment

Re: Do we expect too much?
Yeah, that was pretty much my thoughts exactly. My only defense that I could possibly think of for EA was the "football games take up more space on the disk and don't leave enough for presentation material", but that was with me REALLY reaching for a possibility.Comment

Re: Do we expect too much?
Well, in all fairness, NCAA has 120 teams on the disc where as NFL only has 32, NBA 30, and MLB 30 as well. So, the NCAA series has 4 times as many teams to put on to the same size disc.
I am by no means an EA fanboy, especially with this latest fiasco, but this could be the reason.Comment

good post,
i am not a presentation guy by any means but i feel the expectations are not too much. i think if additions worked better it would go along way to easing some crituque. i would love to use custom sounds but its wonky.NOW PLAYING: NBA Live, madden 11,12, battlefield v, F1 2020 and injustice 2 and COD:MW

Re: Do we expect too much?
I say no that don't get a pass, mainly because I still play NCAA Football 06 and the presentation aspects are off the charts compared to NCAA 11 AND 12
It is laziness IMHO, because all they have to do is go look back at one of their own games to see how it should be done, SMHGames I'm playing FOREVER: NFL2K5, That is all.Comment

Re: Do we expect too much?
2K is better then EA at football end of story
they need competition exclusivity breeds laziness
if 2K made a college or nfl football game that would be it for ea
it is not JUST presentation it's the continual issues with gameplay and the new stuff they introduce is half assed and doesn't work properly
they destroy stuff they had and did work
why don't they copy 2K because they have no competetion
this is the last time they get my 60 bucks
they promise a lot but in the end you might as well be playing ncaa 2004Comment

Re: Do we expect too much?
I believe the primary problem is just complacency. I don't know what it is about current gen, but the fact it still trails behind the previous gen in terms of what is included in the game is just mind-boggling. No other sports title has regressed since the PS3/360 came out -- I'm assuming Madden has at least improved, as I haven't played it on current gen. There really is no reason why things should be taken out between the previous gen and next gen. If the PS2 and original Xbox can handle something, then their predecessors should be doing the same. Especially if you consider the PS2 to PS3 jump also included a bump up to Bluray from DVD in terms of the amount of data that can be contained on the disc.
I expect the game to be better than each previous version, I don't think that is asking too much. So far, EA has far from delivered compared to what Tiburon had to offer on the PS2.
Hell, the fact we're still playing a game that is using the exact same engine it did on the PSX really says all you need to know...Last edited by BGarrett7; 09-11-2011, 09:31 PM.Comment

Re: Do we expect too much?
I don't think we expect too much in the sense that the game should be a better finished product. I said it in my blog last night, and Chris touched on the same thing in his: NCAA Football 12 is not worth the retail price.
I believe EA/Tiburon crams too many game modes into the NCAA Football series. Road to Glory, Coaching Carousel, Offline & Online Dynasties, Rosters, Formations, Create-A-Playbook, the ESPN integration, the tradition...there is a lot to cover. Have they stretched themselves too thin? Can't they just focus on simple gameplay and presenting the college atmosphere, then shave off some of the long list of features that sell lots of copies but are impossible to nail down? Madden at its core was built to be a football simulator. NCAA is a blood relative, yet seems to lose the sense of what a football game should be. For all the hard work Tiburon puts into this game, they need to sit down and figure out their priorities. Is it a sim? Is it a Football RPG? Is it arcade? Is it a college football dynasty game? How important is the marriage of presentation, the college atmosphere, and the ESPN package? I was happy to see some improvements, but the game is a disappointment overall. We expected Patch 2 to save the game. I'm not satisfied with Patch 2, and just don't feel like wasting hours trying to solve the game by tweaking sliders.

Re: Do we expect too much?
I think if anything we expect too little most people just want presentation elements from last gen or at least to be on par with 2k5 but in truth were at the point in this Gen where EA should be innovating in all these football games imoComment
