Whats More important, Realism or Fun Factor?

When it comes to sim basketball whats more important Realism or Fun factor? I have played a few people lately that have said either the way I have my game set up is not fun or they cant spin dunk or (Insert cheese play here) and quit when its 6-2 and 95 seconds into the game. I believe that every game wont be 50 % and you go 8-14 from 3 point land, there are gonna be games where you shoot 29-33 % in first quarter but end up at 41% at the end or players get tired when you have the turbo button glued down..I want fun factor myself but not at the expense of making shots you shouldnt make. Thoughts?????

Realism NBA 2k11 is like my nba game to watch while nba games are not playing or how we currently are in a lockout. I find Spin dunking boring and just plain cheesing horrible I dont even know how to spin dunk at all

Simulating what I see on a real NBA court is fun imo, so it's realism for me.

this is supossed to be a bball SIMULATION so i want it as realistic as possible. Fun comes from all your plays and statgies working and you getting win. OP you playing scrubs. hit me on on XBL if you can. I only play with realistic slides and people quit after 1st quarter because i turn down dunks in traffic to 10 and lower all close shot sliders so they wont make hopstep shots. Cheesers will cry if their weak strategies arent working. IF it wasnt for hopstep and excessive powerdunking heat players not many people would even play 2k11. WOuld be a dream for me

i Don't want shaq making three's or free throw line dunks from Steve nash. But 2k is fun if you play realistic style of play. I just don't like that 2k11 forced you to run plays all the time, because you end up running all the plays for your best player or second best player.

Realism. The point of me enjoying games like these is to emulate what the guys do on the court every night in the NBA. I've played basketball all my life and I've always aimed at playing like the pros. I'm out of High School now and College ball is extremely unlikely since I'm only 5'7". These games are the closest thing I got to NBA ball when there isn't any games on TV. Realism is far more important because that is what makes the game fun for me.

These guys nailed it perfectly. If you're a true fan of the NBA, then playing realistically should be fun. If sim basketball isn't fun to them, then why would some of these so called NBA fans watch b-ball in the first place???

Not all fans of Basketball like to play sim ball though. I know quite a few people that have mad b-ball skills in real life, but they play 2K like they are playing outside in the park. In that case, they are trying to emulate what they see or do.....which is pickup basketball.

But i grew up watching NBA basketball so its just natural for me to try to mirror what I see on tv....and that's when its fun for me.

I agree with majority of your post. I have my attempt dunks for user vs user slides at 10. But are hop step layups/dunk makeable? There's a difference in toning down something and making it a complete non factor.

I don't understand why people bitch and yell cheese when they see a spin dunk, hopstep or eurostep. There basketball moves, very effective moves at that. Best believe if I'm on the break with Griffin, or have just 1 guy to beat and the opportunity presents it's self, damn right I'm spin dunking. I won't do it no more then once in a game, because that's a move not usually used often in real life. Or if I have Rondo, Manu, Reke or D-Harris on the break, or want to finish in traffic with a capable player yeah I'm going to hit a euro step. It's basketball. Ask anyone that played me, I'm straight sim, but if it's at my disposal, with a capable player I'm using it.

As for the poll, I'll go with realism. Thinking, actually coaching, adjusting, defending, creating mismatches, breaking down my man that's fun. I don't want a game where if I throw up a shot, it's mostly going down. I want to earn every point for the full 48 minutes, I want to defend Durant, Rose etc straight up. If I have Korver on D, no way I should be able to chest bump Melo, make him pick up his dribble and force him to pass it to Anthony Carter to hit a contested shot with 4 seconds left on the shot clock. That's wack. I love games where it's a struggle to score, it's a headache and frustrating, but if I get the W it feels that much better. Or if I loose, I know I gave a respectable effort.

Rockchisler's sliders are great! It forces you to score in every way possible. You think NBA players go in thinking there gonna score every time on a jumper, from a set screen? Or just hitting up and unders every time on the block? LMFAO.

And Thugnifcant I'll add you on XBL.

I feel like when you guys vote realism > fun, you're saying you'd rather buy a realistic, unfun game as opposed to a less realistic, fun game. That's. Odd..

Fun is more important to me because it's not real life. It's a video game. If I'm playing my cousins, I'm not worried about what is considered real. When I play online I bring variety to my game and I respect my opponent while still having fun.
