The lack of pressure feels unrealistic to me though for some reason and players still attack, attack, attack. Also the players turning on a dime is just unsettling at times. Plus I just watched short man Valbuena head over Schmelzer of BVB. So far not to impresses, AI wise.

I'm playing Arsenal vs Man City and the ref has a dark uni on same as Man City. It's impossible to tell who the ref is and which is a Man City player. Hopefully this gets fixed in the release version.

My only complain so far is that AI are way too fast! I can't catch up with them to jockey. Hopefully we the sliders can help.

I'm not sure, but I'm using LB (L1 for PS3 users) to do precision dribbling.

If want to do a quick turn without taking a medium or long stride, just hold down LB while moving in the direction you want to go. Holding down LB without moving in a direction will make you player stand still and face towards goal, so use with care

To answer someones question about the grass, unless I'm missing it big time, the grass isn't that cool 3d grass seen in Madden. Not a huge thing but it would have been a nice touch.

            As far as fouls go:
I was pleasantly surprised to see some fouls called for a few rough standing tackles. Some people are reporting that they're not seeing those types of fouls called. If that disparity is from different referee personalities I'm down with that. This was a decently big gripe for me with the last FIFA I played extensively (09) so the difference is enough to make me happy.
            Defense:
I can't get into the finer points of real life defensive tactics because I'd frankly be talking out of my *** but at least my ai teammates are showing some desire to win balls deep into their defensive 3rd. I also appreciate their desire to step into the line of fire to save what in the past would have been a for sure goal.(see the video I posted earlier in this thread, page 2 or 3 I think)

            I don't like:
My ai teammates still don't show much desire to gain possession of loose balls. That seems like it would be a simple enough ai thing to implement but I guess it's a toughie.

For some reason it seems like the cpu team has added speed until you get deep into your defensive 3rd.

            Goal Variety:
I've already seen a nice variety of goals, it's true that a lot do seem to come from headers or crosses but I've seen some come from building up through the middle and they look pretty and realistic to me.
            Animations and Player impact:
Most of the animations look beautiful and I've seen some really nice, subtle collisions. I haven't gone looking for flaws in the engine but I haven't seen any impact engine stuff that made me think it was over the top. I don't like some of the skill move animations like the reverse step-over which seems too fast but others are done very nicely.

            Closing thoughts:
The game looks nice and is fun to play, if you were into FIFA 11 I'm sure FIFA 12 will be a nice step up. I'm curious to try out PES12 since so many are raving about it's ai. I wonder if I'll pick up on the subtleties since I'm so relatively new to the sport. Let's see what tomorrow brings on that front but I'm definitely enjoying the FIFA 12 demo right now.

I gave it a shot as far as the demo is concerned. I'll continue to play, but yet again the CPU dribbling/control animation is so off. I mean the players are too SHIFTY, they have amazing agility on the ball, no mis dribbles - no sense of showing they are troubled by the pressure. It's just not realistic at all. It's been this way since FIFA 09. The dribbling is like the entire body of a player is a frickin bobblehead doll - the phsycis are just off completely.

With that said, the atmosphere/ambiance of the matches played are stellar. The commentary works, and I enjoy the cutscenes.

The pre player intro or whatever it is I can do without. That is a terrible feature ala FIFA PC (07-08) and is just lazy programming. When on earth do you see a presentation before the match of a player from the current team against another player of the other current team, wearing the exact same kits? Yeah, poor decision making there.

All in all, I'm not impressed, but I'm not surprised. Carna has a more detailed post, and anything he said I agree too because he is one of the most tactically gifted interpreters of the game, and if sliders can fix this game, he's the man for the job.

Do I need to have a GOLD-level XBOX Live membership to download the demo? I have never had GOLD membership - and I have downloaded demos for other games before!

Does the demo become available to SILVER (free) level at some point?

This sucks - why would EA want to prevent a potential customer?

I know times are rough man, but you need to get with the program. If you can afford an Xbox360 and possibly a $60 FIFA video game, you can get an online membership for $50 for a year.

And to answer your question, I don't think it's being released to silver level. But you can always create a new username and get a free month of gold level.

man, I am struggling. Playing on professional (usually play on world class) and I have yet to score a goal! Tactical defending is taking some time to get used to. One thing I notice though, is that the cpu will literally keep possession forever when playing with tactical defending. Gotta play some more

Have spent just about all day playing this game and it is great. I am pretty much new to the FIFA series and only played 11 a couple times but I could tell the difference immediately. IMO FIFA 12 is such an improvement.

All I can say is the Holy Trinity (impact engine, tactical defending, precision dribbling) is legit. Little did I know that a soccer game would be my most anticipated game.

This type of post seems to happen more often every year from non-soccer gamers who are playing FIFA for first time in a while to see what it's like. Still doesn't give much in-depth impressions/reviews for those die-hards who have been playing for years. Not trying to rain on your parade; just trying to provide some perspective.

After playing the demo for a bit, I'm gonna get this game when it comes out. Def feels more refined. I have 11 years of playing experience in this sport and while FIFA is not a perfect game like any other game, the demo is showing me a great game of soccer. I'll get into more detail in another post after I spend some more time with it.

I'm on the PS3, had FIFA 11 on the 360 and FIFA 12 on the PS3 looks nice and crisp, specially the player models. Not sure if it's just me or anyone else noticed, the player models, field and lighting looks much better to me. And the camera angle seems different but I really like it.

Can't wait to play the full version.

I totally agree with you. My opinion is coming from a total soccer noob no doubt, and a veteran of the game may not be nearly as impressed. I am actually glad that I am new to the game because it seems so fresh and impressive to me. It looks like I couldn't of picked a better time to join the series.
