Tuner Updates
So supposedly there were Tuner updates available upon release. Does anyone know what these fixed? I was thinking with all the freezing issues that I was gonna wait, possibly not even download one all together. To see if the freezes may be caused by the Tuners themselves or even Custom Music. I actually enjoy the way the game plays right now, so since I don't play online, I don't see much need for a tuner right away. Has anyone experiencing freezes, tried deleting all their NHL 12 data and just tried playing the game with slider adjustments only? No Tuners or Custom Soundtracks.Tags: None -
Re: Tuner Updates
I thought the same thing about the tuner. So until I hear some info as to what it has done...thanks but no thanks! -
Re: Tuner Updates
Personally, I downloaded and then deleted the tuner update (by deleting and recreating my NHL 12 profile). I don't think the tuner improved the game at all, I thought it could have even made it worse (glued pucks and skating), maybe only a wrong feeling, but I didn't want to take the chance, because I really love how the game plays out of the box. And since I almost never play online either, I don't think I will download any tuner again.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
My tuner options are still only 1.00 and "Latest", so I have no idea if there was a tuner that actually did anything at all?
What are the glued pucks you speak of? I haven't really noticed anything, and it certainly feels less gluey than last year.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
I assume he is referring to how easy players receive very hard passes from short distances. We've noticed it playing EASHL.
I'm sure Redshirt & co are monitoring feedback for tuning and some of the obvious stuff will be addressed shortly. In fact, I may even have to wade into the EA Forums to see if there is any news.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
If I remember correctly I have seen 2 tuner updates.
One was a gameplay update and after I downloaded that one I got another one right after saying something like game menu or game mode tuner update. It was late last night and I was half asleep so I don't know if what I read was true.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
Hmm... Is there a reason we're only seeing 1.00 and "latest" in the options? If I remember correctly in previous years you could select "latest" if you wanted, but you could also select it via it's designated number (i.e. 1.01).
Did the first tuner just overwrite 1.00?Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
That's odd if it's the case.
Did you lose anything of value by deleting your profile and starting a new one? Are sliders tied to your profile? The whole autosave thing is a little frustrating at times.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
Yes, we loose all settings, sliders included, when deleting the profile. So, if you're not sure or you like it the way it is now, I would not suggest you to delete it.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
I don't really hate it the way it is, but I'm more curious to see if there is a difference and if it did indeed overwrite 1.00.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
Personally, I really like the update. I was disappointed after getting and playing the game today because it felt very heavy and sluggish; it felt like the players were made out of cement. I played one game before the update and now afterwards, the difference to me is night and day. It feels much more like NHL 11 now and is very fast paced. The deke seems to be better than v1.00 in my opinion. One thing that gets me though is that you can't quickly dump the puck like in NHL 11. I thought before '12 you could hold RB while flicking the stick and the puck would dump. Now it seems that you need to continue holding RB after the flick until the player actually starts to take the shot. Otherwise, you just end up wristing it which can be bad in PK situations.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
not sure if the latest tuner is to blame or not, but I was having the computer score a ridiculous amount of goals from the blue line on me. it was getting to the point where I could predict when the puck was going to hit the back of the net. so today I switched back to 1.00 and played a few games. overall I enjoyed the gameplay a lot more and the goals from the blue line seemed to have decreased, I was only able to get in like 3 games though. I'll test it out more tomorrow since I'll have time to get some more games in.Comment

Re: Tuner Updates
Yeah, I felt the same about the tuner. However, unlike you, I didn't appreciate it at all. I loved the NHL 12 demo, so I don't want to play NHL 11 all over again. After the update, even 1.00 seemed different to me, so knowing that the new tuner could have overwritten both tuner 1.00 and latest (in fact they are possibly the same tuner), I deleted it.Personally, I really like the update.
