Re: Madden 12 Dead Pixel Live's interview with Creative Director Mike Young
I liked the interview. Not totally sure what to make of everything, though. Mike Young seems like something of an introvert, so he's kind of difficult to read, and the way he answered the questions seemed measured. Or maybe he was just distracted because he was babysitting. At any rate, it's like he wanted to say "yes" to a few things, but didn't want to get anyone's hopes up in case the inevitable gears of development pushed something aside for something else.
Example: the question about tiered defensive playbooks. The answer was "in the future".
I like that it's on the table and being thought about, but does that mean next year, or is it so far down the list of priorities that it'll be the year after? I don't know. I get that he can't answer for sure, but I'd really love to toy around with a tiered playcalling system in Madden 13.
Good interview, though. He seems like the right guy for the job. He believes in as much customization as possible, and I got the vibe that he would have made a couple of different creative decisions for the better on the game this year."A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or if he dies."Comment

He just can't say anything about future Maddens because it's policy not say anything about the new Madden until SB time. As you alluded to, if he said last night tiered play calling was in for 13 and then find out later they ran out of time or budget, you have angry hardcore football players.Comment

Re: Madden 12 Dead Pixel Live's interview with Creative Director Mike Young
Stopped listening after he talked about the grass issue with PS3 and 360. Starts off saying it may have been a bug that snuck in there, then ends saying the consoles have different hardware so that may have caused it. Basically, it's not their fault at all it happened.
If both versions of Madden are built on both systems separate, then why is the grass issue the only difference? Why blame PS3's hardware when you can counter saying you could load more features it's disc compared to 360. And if they are really built separate, why did I buy Madden on 360 knowing the PS3 version was going to play like a ported version and not like it's own build, like every year.
Also, the vibe I got was that "in the future" and "looking into it" is another way to say "No." They'll barely touch this years new features, take out a few next year, and add a few more. Would be nice if they would actually commit and talk about what they plan on doing instead of working on it now and finishing the game in January then slowly talking about all the work they did that took them a couple months.
And plus, he really couldn't take a few moments and give a more professional interview without sounding distracted and like he rather be doing something else.Last edited by TMJOHNS18; 09-16-2011, 03:27 PM.Comment

I happen to know all to well about that.
And no, I didn't get the vibe you did because Madden is very confidential about letting out in public what they are working on the next Madden until SB time. From October until SB, all you hear is, we are looking into that, perhaps, maybe, very non-committal information.Comment

I appreciate the interview (my ?? was answered)....
didn't like hearing his answer though..."they're different hardware...so.....they may look different...."
if they want to charge 10 less for the PS3 version, I'd be fine with that as it seems to me that EA/tiburon acknowledges the different looksBummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.Comment

Re: Madden 12 Dead Pixel Live's interview with Creative Director Mike Young
Mike seemed pretty guarded, The two biggest things I would have loved to hear about would be when is the patch coming out and what is being worked on. The one thing I didn't like was the response "some things don't get tested" which he tried to retract afterwards.
I can understand they aren't going to catch everything but when I'm catching glitches in the first game after opening the box it makes you wonder if the game is getting tested period. Good and honest interview overall.Comment

Re: Madden 12 Dead Pixel Live's interview with Creative Director Mike Young
THE GUY DIDNT SOUND EXCITED ABOUT THE GAME NOR THE INTERVIEW.REGARDLESS OF WATCHING THE KIDS HE DIDNT SEEM TO WANT TO DO THE INTERVIEW.WE AS GAMERS NEED TO STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR COMPANIES THAT SCREW US OVER WE WORK TO HARD FOR ARE CASH. THE GUY WAS BASICALLY SAYING THAT WE WANT TO MUCH IN A GAME AND FROM HIS ANSWERS THEY WILL GIVE US MORE TRASH NEXT YEAR.FOOTBALL IS THE SAME EVERY YEAR SO THEY DONT HAVE TO REINVENT THE WHEEL JUST GIVE US A GOOD FOOTBALL GAME AND STOP MAKING EXCUSE.PEOPLE STILL COMPARE MADDEN WITH NFL2K5 BECAUSE 2K5 WAS MORE TRUE TO THE GAME THAN MADDEN HAS EVER BEEN. REMEMBER IN 2K5 IF YOUR QB CROSSED THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE AND THREW THE BALL THEY HAD A PENALTY FOR THAT.LETS STOP TALKING ABOUT MAYBE IT CANT BE DONE BECAUSE IT WAS DONE ON LAST GEN SYSTEMS.EA CONTINUES TO DISRESPECT THE GAMERS SO GAMERS STOP BUYING A UNFINISHED PRODUCT. THE GUY EVEN SAID THEY DIDNT TEST CERTAIN PARTS OF THE GAME.HOW COULD CHRIS COLLINSWORTH NOT KNOW A QB FROM A RUNNING BACK.THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A GAME WE GOT THREE OR FOUR YRS AGO.THE QUESTIONS THAT WERE ASKED SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ABOUT WHY THE GAME WAS SHIPPED UNFINISHED THIS IS WHY I RENT EA GAMES YES GAMES SHIP WITH BUGS BUT MADDEN AND NCAA SHIP WITH WAY TO MANY AND THATS BECAUSE THEY KNOW IT WILL SALE.ITS GREAT TO SEE THEM LOSING NUMBERS BECAUSE THEY USE TO EASILY SALE 4MIL ON EACH SYSTEM RIGHT NOW THEY ARENT EVEN AT A MIL SOLD ON ONE SYSTEM PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF THE LIES.BUY THE BACKBREAKER ENGINE AND BUILD A SOLID FOOTBALL GAMEComment
