not sure why people are laughing at him having Stanford at 1, phil steele also has them as the highest rated team in his power ratings

It's no coincidence that the people taking issue with it are Oklahoma and LSU fans.

Maybe Stanford ends up at #1, but in all honesty I don't know how anyone could put them at #1 right now when Oklahoma and LSU have both had huge quality wins. And I'm not a fan of either.

Stanford has played San Jose St, Duke and Arizona. One absolutely terrible team, one terrible team and one average team on the road.
OU has played one average team and one very good team on the road.
LSU has played one good team on a neutral site, one absolutely terrible team and one above average team on the road.

How does Stanford bypass either OU or LSU when both those teams have better wins.

It will all make sense when Oregon, a team LSU destroyed, beats Stanford AGAIN.

LSU has a convincing win over a top 5 team at a neutral site while OU has a 10 point win over a top 5 team on the road.

How we put Stanford at #1 when they haven't beaten a team with a winning record all year is beyond me but whatever.

Stanford wouldn't even be in my top three. It would be LSU, BAMA, and OU in that order. I'll vote next week.

It's Week 3.

It's hard to know what is "the best we could do" with so little information there is.

It will all make sense when Oregon, a team LSU destroyed, beats Stanford AGAIN.

Oregon losing to Team Luck on the road AGAIN also makes alot of sense.

LSU has a convincing win over a top 5 team at a neutral site while OU has a 10 point win over a top 5 team on the road.

And no one knows if those are actually top 5 teams. Oregon could conceivably lose 2 more games and Florida State's return to power gets delayed another year if EJ Manuel doesn't play tomorrow.

At-the-time rankings are meaningless.

How we put Stanford at #1 when they haven't beaten a team with a winning record all year is beyond me but whatever.

Until teams have completed a greater percentage of the season, it's all just guess work.

The polls at this point essentially overrate teams for beating overrated preseason teams. It's possible that OU's "top 5 road win" is a road win against a .500 team by this time tomorrow.

i'd put lsu no.1 and oklahoma no.2 going into this week. alabama probably no.3, but its hard to rank the teams on merit after that because hardly anyone has beaten anyone.
