100% how I feel after playing many games last night and this morning. The game went from a first-day purchase to a wait and see for me. I only play offline and haven't bought a FIFA game in 2 years specifically because of this issue, along with a couple other offline AI issues that have plagued this series for years and that I'm seeing in this demo.

Did you guys play 2011 version? Does it happen a lot in 2011?100% how I feel after playing many games last night and this morning. The game went from a first-day purchase to a wait and see for me. Re: FIFA 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3, PC)
I didn't play FIFA 11. I was hoping they would eventually fix this, so I skipped a year. It's becoming annoying watching CPU teams run the ball down the side, send a perfect cross to a teammate in the box, and bang -- header into my goal. I dropped down in difficulty to see if it was a settings issue, but the exact same thing happens on the lower difficulty levels as well. It's like some kind of pre-determined auto-goal programming.Comment

Re: FIFA 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3, PC)
I found a temporary fix for this issue in 12. Basically, knowing the CPU will attack the wings, I defend the wings right from the get go (boxing them out, forcing them to play in the middle). When I do this, I notice different results in offense for the CPU. But most of the time they force the issue and attack the wings even if it was heavily defended. This makes it very predictable IMO.I didn't play FIFA 11. I was hoping they would eventually fix this, so I skipped a year. I appreciate the tips, that makes sense. What's annoying me is that the CPU sends perfect crosses onto the heads of its teammates every freaking time, even on amateur difficulty. In PES 2011, CPU players, depending on their ability, will often cross the ball and it misses everyone by yards and ends up rolling OB on the other side of the pitch. It just seems so automatic and deadly in the FIFA demo. But maybe that's because they're all top teams or something?I found a temporary fix for this issue in 12. I think it was made like that lol! Thank god for passing sliders this year. If the sliders are implemented correctly, we can definitely minimize those accurate passes by CPU.I appreciate the tips, that makes sense. Oh, okay. I didn't realize those were in the game, thanks for the info. I heard something about sliders a while back but it never registered. I assume those sliders aren't in the demo, because I haven't seen any.
I really like the feel of the game this year, I hope it works out that it's fixable with sliders and such.Last edited by peigone; 09-21-2011, 02:10 PM.Comment

Hey, if there are sliders, there's always hope

Re: FIFA 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3, PC)
What crossing assistance do you use? I've long thought that the user's assistance settings somehow affect the CPU as well. I typically use manual crossing, through balls & lobs (and sometimes full manual). I know it sounds like a crackpot internet theory, but I swear it loosens up the CPU's crossing so every one isn't directly to a head.
Or maybe I'm crazy.Comment

Does that settings affects the CPU at all Qb? If so, I'll try i today. What crossing assistance do you use? I've long thought that the user's assistance settings somehow affect the CPU as well. Interesting theory. I'm using all manual however. I have since the FIFA series first introduced manual. IMO one of the best additions to any sports game ever, and the biggest reason I enjoy FIFA so much. What crossing assistance do you use? Re: FIFA 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3, PC)
It could be your theory has some merit. What I notice is the CPU will suddenly jack up the pressure, and that's when I see the perfect crosses and passes and so forth. But I also see errant passes by the CPU in midfield at times when it's not pressuring me. And those passes are as pathetically off-target at times as my passing sometimes is. Which is what I love about manual controls -- I can make really bad plays if I'm not careful.

Tweaking the passing error slider is gonna be a must, IMO. However, I dont think we've gotten confirmation that we'll be able to tweak the CPU sliders. Just like madden 09 when EA decided we didn't need cpu slidersComment
