Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are more casual gamers playing FIFA than PES. To me, FIFA is the easier of the two games to master because it is less about tactics and more about quick button pressing.

Having played the demo for while now, I think part of why PES is getting a rep as an arcade game is the way the CPU continually pushing forwards. A few people have noted it in the impressions thread, and perhaps tweaking the tactics to a slower, more possession based one might help-- because right now it's just too quick.

Having said that, I really do think the off the ball movement this year is impressive, and in the long run, if they do fix the way the AI's gung ho style, can keep the game fresh for a much longer period than PES 2011 did.

Since this is all being based on the demo, what are the chances the full game would have it fixed?

I've played the 1st demo on PS3, really like it, but defense is alot different from 2011.

I guess I can see that point being made. To me, the variety of goals in this game has me believing that its more sim than the other game. Guess it just depends on what part of the game you'd most want to reflect the real life sport. The weight of the ball and variety of play/goals makes this game feel more lifelike to me.

Jon Murphy's tweeted that he's passed a list of bugs onto the team to be worked on. But I think in this day and age you're pretty much obligated to tweet that. Whether they'll actually fix it for the full game-- your guess is as good as mine.

I mean, this is nothing new. If you play PES 2011 using the tactics from the box, without any editing on your part, they were always sort of meh too. More than a few times I've encountered teams playing with some really strange strategies. I had a Master League going as Man Utd and imagine my surprise when I saw much weaker teams trying to suffocate me with high lines and heavy pressing (a lot of them in the Champions League too, of all places) which of course, is suicidal unless they're Barcelona, or Liverpool at Anfield, as I'm sure you would remember from last year

I think most people feel the exact opposite.

FIFA doesn't look like a game of soccer. You never see this fast paced action in soccer. There is no build up play with FIFA.

I hope the gun ho attacking style was passed on to Jon Murphy as a bug and they fix this before they final release because it is the only thing holding me back from enjoying this game to its full extent. It is more noticeable when playing more than 10 min matches.

I've seen decent variety. Rangers have hoofed long balls up to their ST. Spurs have attacked me from the wings and Inter has worked it methodically through the center of the pitch. None of the teams in the demo are high possession teams in real life. I'm happy with the variety of the CPU attacks in the demo. We'll see what happens in the retail version.

Its weird because after my post I loaded up the demo on the PS3 and the game seems different from the PC patch version, can anybody else confirm this. Like you said the variety is there but we will have to wait and see for the retail version.

They seem pretty similar to me, the only difference for me was using a 360 controller on my PC and the PS3 Controller. The 360 version of the Demo feels a little different but then they have a different selection of teams to use but honestly the more I played all 3 I think the differences boiled down to the controllers and maybe the graphics so things look and feel a little different, but they generally say the code is the same for all 3 versions.

I think one of the roundtablers mentioned feeling like he didn't have enough control on "D" I felt that way at first, but began to realize I was playing a lot like I was able to last year and going for too many steals and getting burned, putting myself out of position. So I am trying to be more patient play better position D and only go for steals or slide tackles when It seems like I have a good chance it has helped. It can be frustrating when You go for the steal and your recovery time is pretty slow, not sure if that is wrong of the game or just me.

I don't notice anything overly aggressive about the AI, but that's just me. I mean they have to try to score am I right? =)

When I've held up their possession in the midfield they've kicked it around and back to their CBs to re-establish possession. I don't notice them forcing it into traffic more than they should.

I'm pretty stoked for the 27th regardless because after being utterly devastated by the wasted piece of bug-ridden garbage that is NCAA football, this game and Fifa will be the holy grails of sports video games.

I don't know bros. Defense still seems s**t. And it still looks to easy to maintain possession. Think i'm gonna stick with WE9LE again.

Yea the new game does certain things better but what's most important is an overall balanced game between the offense and defense.

I just played as Napoli against Man U. and lost 4-1 on Professional, yes I suck. I got off to a bad start and they jumped up 2-0 and the possession of for the end of the game ended up 51-49 in favor of Napoli, because Man. U really did make an attempt to possess the ball and moved it back and sometimes across the field, yes the general emphasis was on moving forward but I don't see the non stop attack game that some have seen and as the wise man who posted a few moments ago said, they have to try to score that is kind of the point.

You need to play human vs human to really expose the games faults.
