Honestly I'd love 2k to get rid of overall rankings. All they do is make people mad that so and so is overrated or underrated when there are usually(not always) good reasons for it. Some players have strengths that are not prototypical for their position such as Dirk. He is a great shooter but that doesn't make him look great as a powerforward because PF's are about post defense rebounding and post offense. Dirk's good at one of those 3 things and in a completely different league than any other PF in something that they are not supposed to be good at. So Dirk as an 85 will be able to make jumpshots against anyone but has alot of trouble guarding Randolph in the post. Sounds fair to be. Also the reason Lebron is always rated so high is because he doesn't have any measurable weakness for a Small forward. His game ranks highly in almost every statistical measurement of course he will be rated higher then others every year.

Re: NBA 2K12 Player Ratings Revealed (Most of Them)
77 is just right for Boozer...and as for Deng, I think he should be rated atleast 80.. He was a big key to why the Bulls had the most wins in the NBA. Deng has great stamina and defense...That Bulls team doesn't look like a 62 win team right there...disappointingComment

Re: NBA 2K12 Player Ratings Revealed (Most of Them)
So much wrong with this list:
What could possibly make LeBron James that much better than Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, and Derrick Rose (or better than them at all).
Deron Williams and Chris Paul are better than Dwyane Wade easily.
Russel Westbrook doesn't deserve to be in the same breath as Deron Williams and at best is as good as Steph Curry (Curry is arguably the better the of the two).
Steph Curry is better point guard than John Wall and Russel Westbrook. Arguably a top 5 point guard at this point.

QFT
No love for my man Casspi - 61OVR ? C+ 3PT?!
Kleiza 62, Marc only 73, Scola only 77 (dude is a LEGIT 20/10 player) while Noah is inflated to 83? Dude can defend and rebound and hustle, but ain't got enough of an offensive game to warrant 83, just like DRose isnt an A perimeter defender.
Dropping Bosh all the way down to 80 just seems cheap populism....
Ben Wallace still A+ post defense? give me a break...
also Oden is somehow a A- post defender. he is (can be) good, but not that good, I mean he will definitely block some shots but he also gets in foul trouble real quick down low (inexperience)
Wow LOTS of blunders this year (maybe last year as well I don't normally bother checking so thoroughly and just wait for rosters from the community. I guess i'm regressing )

So much wrong with this list:
What could possibly make LeBron James that much better than Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard, and Derrick Rose (or better than them at all).Potential plays a big part in 2k's ratings and if Lebron played to the best of his abilities every night based on his tools he would easily outshine those you mentioned.
Deron Williams and Chris Paul are better than Dwyane Wade easily.
Don't know about that easily part man. DW and CP3 are certainly in the top 5 for their position but Wade is routinely mentioned as being in the top 5 of the entire NBA
Russel Westbrook doesn't deserve to be in the same breath as Deron Williams and at best is as good as Steph Curry (Curry is arguably the better the of the two). Agree that RW is not in the same league as DW
Steph Curry is better point guard than John Wall and Russel Westbrook. Arguably a top 5 point guard at this point.
What! Curry a top 5 pg! Come on man! Really? The guy is one of the purest shooters in the game but top 5 floor generals?
Al Jefferson is better than Kevin Garnett at this point in their careers. Probably reflects Garnett being too high instead of Jefferson being too low.
Monta Ellis should be a lot closer to Kobe and Wade.
What! Ellis should be a lot closer to Wade and Kobe? The guy can certainly score the basket with those guys. I'm sure his offensive skills will be on par with them but don't know of him doing much else which is where Wade and Kobe probably pull away from him
My only explanation is that the ratings system holds almost no weight on the shooting abilities (Allen and Pierce's ratings reflect that) but even that does not justify thisEA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Player Ratings Revealed (Most of Them)
By that logic (I'm perfectly fine using it) you would have to look at all those players playing to their full potential. If you put Derrick Rose in a more efficient system (or even Del Negro's previous one) he puts up upward of 25 and 7 while being a lot more efficient from the field (check out his numbers the second half of the 2009-2010 season). Chris Paul and Deron Williams both played at their full potential in the playoffs the past two years (Paul in '11 and Williams in '10) and their numbers were comparable to LeBron's numbers when he played to his full potential ('10 playoffs) and you can argue Chris Paul was better. I also believe we have yet to see Durant reach his full potential and most would believe that him and LeBron bring the same value to the table (LeBron provides more on Defense but Durant provides more offensively). I have no problem removing Howard from the list though.
I believe Chris Paul and Deron Williams are two of the most underrated players in basketball simply because they don't exert themselves from a statistical standpoint as the other top players in the league do. Players like Kobe, LeBron, Wade, and Rose go out there attempting to put up great numbers (not a knock on them;that's their role on their teams) while these point guards are more concerned with running an efficient offense. If you look at it from a skills and efficiency standpoint CP3 and D. Will are clearly two of the top players in basketball (especially if you take their recent playoff performances into account) and I believe they trump Dwyane Wade, who really struggles when he plays elite defenses (check his numbers against Boston, San Antonio, and Chicago).
Glad to know people aren't falling into the Westbrook hype.
I said Curry was arguably a top 5 point guard. He runs a very efficient offense (6th in the league last year I believe) and is himself a very efficient player (made a bid at 50, 40, 90 last year). To me he is probably behind Nash and maybe Kidd for the 5th spot (Paul, Williams, Rose, Rondo). However to the original point he is clearly a better point guard than Russell Westbrook and John Wall.
Concerning Monta I didn't say he was even with Wade or Kobe just that he was too far behind them. The fact that you believe his offensive skills are on par with theirs (a fair assessment) should warrant him being less than 11 points behind Kobe and 13 points behind Wade. I would say at this point in his career Kobe doesn't offer a lot more (their numbers were close to identical if you factor in Kobe shooting a little bit more and getting more calls) but they are both behind Wade in the shooting guard conversation.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12 Player Ratings Revealed (Most of Them)
Could you edit players ratings yourself in NBA 2k11 ? This is really ridiculous, how can a player like Lowry who improved his 3pt shooting, ppg and turning into a clutch shooter drop from 81 to 76 ?? Where's the logic ? 2k is really dropping the ball with these ratings.Comment
