    EASHL - Issues and fixes

It is the same every year now. When it starts out, the EASHL is even, with teams having to PLAY hockey. Then as they get better, with better attributes and boosts, the game is just a matter of hoping you don't run into teams with 99 Passing, etc, etc

    So how to fix this?

    Preset player templates.

EASHL players use REAL players as a template and play with their stats. They cannot change that players attributes, instead they unlock better sets of players as they improves.

Also teams cannot have the SAME player template repeated and must work to a cap.

    EXAMPLE:

My team has 6 players and in out first game we choose the following player templates:

LW - Uses an AHL first line
    C - Uses a NHL 4th liner
    RW - User a NHL 4th liner
RD - Uses an AHL 2nd liner
    LD - Uses a NHL 3rd liner
    G - Uses a NHL backup goalie

this would be because we have only got access to level one players each.

However in game 10 we have all moved up a level (on of us has dropped out and we have brought in a higher level player who has access to level 9 players and will play in Goal)

    LW - Uses a NHL 3nd liner
    C - Uses a NHL 3rd liner
    RW - User a NHL 3th liner
RD - Uses an NHL 2nd liner
    LD - Uses a NHL 3rd liner
G - Uses Tim Thomas' template

Eventually you may have a team where someone has set up as follows:

    LW - Alex Ovechkin
    C - Pavel Datsyuk
    RW - Sidney Crosby
    RD - Nik Lidstrom
    LD - Shea Weber
    G - Tim Thomas

HOWEVER... that is still better than facing an entire team where the players have boosted to 99 on certain attributes to make them unplayable.

This may sound all a bit convoluted right now, but something along those lines should help keep EASHL on a more even keel and not a cheesers paradise (although I have no doubt they'd find a way to break it)

I agree with this, my buds and i have been talking about this same exact thing. Very good idea IMO.

Re: EASHL - Issues and fixes

I'm asking for that type of thing since EASHL inception in NHL 09. There's nothing I like less than cheating and glitching, but almost everyone is cheating in that game online and people saying the opposite are just lying to themselves.

In fact, the simplest thing for EA would be to give the same attributes they have with the boost pack and go from there.

You'll have for forward the PWF, PLY, etc. with overall pretty much the same, but attributes spreads with the strenghts and weaknesses of each player. No more stack 99 somewhere in attributes, you have a playmaker, your passing is better, but you suffer in strenght and balance.

Same for D-man. Play Defensive D-Man, your a force in front of your net, but a liability with the puck, while it's the opposite for the Offensive D-Man.

Only problem with all these ideas to make the EASHL better is the money EA make with the boost selling and people spending between 25 and 70$ to unlock all the +5 boost and slots they need.

So, all the talking will be talking because it's obvious that the cheating is well alive in the EASHL and the money cow makes it more important than making the game better for EA.

Simple answer, lock away the likes of Crosby, Ovi, Datsyuk, Thomas, etc (and even Gretzky, Yzerman, etc) that have similar unlock criteria as the boost packs.

Then allow those player to be bought from the store.

Or even use chemistry like they do in HUT. Then allow chemistry boosts to be bought, so that if you have a team mixed of players of different nationalities and teams, you can buy a chemistry boost to improve how their attributes work with each other.

Money can still be made, but EASHL needs an overhaul.

If I was working for EA, you know what I would answer to myself and to you?

"Problem with the EASHL isn't the mode, but the people playing it. We are trying to make it the more enjoyable as possible, but have no control of what our users will do with the game." In a way, they would be right.

You're right on the money point, but it would mean more work for them to overhaul the EASHL and in the end, you'll have people criticize them for what they did.

To me, still, and I'm with you on that one, EASHL need to be rework, and the first step would be to have a more equal playing field. So get rid of the boost slots, get rid of the boost pack, and give us only few standard build and we'll roll with them!

well said... been wanting this for 2 plus years now.

BUT, the casual gamers they target would not like this bc they want to adjust their player to what they want.

I love playing OTP, but I think FIFA does a better job in player template and attribute management making it automatic based on accomplishments (that don't include buying or playing 2 seasons of BAP).

I think the game would be much better off with eliminating the boost slots which I believe were a horrible idea from the beginning. Just distribute points if that is the way they want to leave it and a larger penalty for being a 5'8'', 150 lb midget with 99 pass, wrist shot, agility, and speed. It just needs to balance out and it usually will after 8-10 weeks, a patch, and a couple tuner sets.

Easier solution: Nerf the players, reduce the skillrating of 99 to be 93(or something like that) in game for every rating. 99 passer will play like 93 passer, same for hitting, shooting etc.

My biggest gripe is the matchmaking. I mean my buddy and I started playing last night for the first time and we got matched up against people with over 100 games of experience.

How the hell is that fair. Our player's have base line stats going against maxed out players.

Re: EASHL - Issues and fixes

I agree with what y'all are saying, but I think the best part of EASHL and online BeAPro, is the fact that you receive certain attributes after playing a certain amount of games/wins/grading system (which is kinda messed up and needs more explanation and work).
Now dont get me wrong, when 12 came out, I did buy a boost pack for the simple fact that the team knew others would do it. Since the release I have played over 800 club games and numerous amounts of OTP games. Just cracked my 1000th club point the other night! I am a Legend 3 skater and a Legend 1 goalie.
I have maxed out the certain attributes that pertain to my player type as well as combining boost attributes to assist with the XP allocation. I can have a playmaker with 99 DK, HE, PC, OffAw, and passing with a half decent 94 WSA and 85ish WSP. My problem is, I still can't do some of the stuff people are capable of in EASHL. The ability to create a player that can pass, shoot with 30-40% accuracy, skate like the wind, hit, poke check, and avoid any hit and or poke check that you throw at them. I have changed my attributes, boosts, stick curve, stick flex, skate blades, height, weight, and even skin colour numerous amounts of times, yet I am still not able to create some of the monsters I play against.
I am a true fan of the game and have been since the inception of the NHL series, but I truly find it hard to believe that tonnes of players avg 4 to 5 pts a game and have 1500 pts in 300 to 400 games played? A shooting percentage of 30-40% is ridiculous, no? The best snipers in real life are lucky to hit 20%!
I understand the numerous glitches in the game...the mid/high slot, the faceoff circle short side, and the ever hated, diving into the goalie and swiping the puck in the net! I can only see this so many times in a game and I wonder how it can be fun to play like that?
My club is Pro and 50-23 this season as we hit a huge rough patch last night losing to teams like these...we try and eliminate the issue by using the EA club search, but even then, you don't know. We want to get to Elite but I can't see it happening without cheating!
Maybe EA should just divide the divisions, one for glitchers and one for fundamentalists? I would take the 2nd option any day!
Sorry about the rant, but I am really tired of seeing this stuff!

                    Play fair and have fun.
                    Cheers
