According to this no crew 2k12

    pastapadre Bryan Wiedey
Looks like no 'Crew' mode online for NBA 2K12 - also no lobby rooms. Website will handle managing of Online Assciation also for leaderboards

    pastapadre Bryan Wiedey
It seems instead of the 'Crew' mode 2K12 will allow My Players online but only with the paid DLC. pastapadre.com/2011/09/26/nba… \

Thoughts? personally i think it is a good idea and hope my players can only be used for my player pickup games for the DLC and not have a crew leaderboard

This is ridiculous, not only do you get rid of crew, but you make us pay to use My Players and Legends online. LOL

I never play online, so this doesn't really change anything for me....but...it seems to me that 2k has decided to start a typical EA sports release cycle - wait a year, update rosters, come up with 1-2 new features that sound cool to put out as advertising (to reel in more casual gamers), spend majority of dev time slightly improving graphics and advertising campaigns while important game modes only receive a fresh paint job. Hope I wrong...but cmon...

Re: According to this no crew 2k12

I just dont feel that they would take out crew. It clearly says "Import your My Player - can you compete?". 1st question is why are my players even involved in this "Legends Showcase?". When I think of legends, I ask myself where legends are made? The 1st thing that pops in my mind is that legends are made in big games. Maybe there is a new and improved crew mode worth purchasing DLC. Maybe a monthly crew playoff bracket, or maybe a crew league? idk let your imagination run wild. There's a new website nba2k.com which is supposedly my player hackproof. There is create-a-jumper and nike id. 2k put a lot of emphasis on the new and improved my player. Going back to online, one thing that three featured legends all have in common are championships. "Can you compete?" What can our my players compete in? My guess is a new legendary crew mode worth buying thru dlc. If not that then 2vs2 my player tournaments anybody? (white men can't jump style). But I just feel that the crew mode is the closest experience you can get to real basketball if played correctly with the right teammates. Regardless, I'm getting this game with or without crew. But I'll say if 2k12 is crew-less, I'll be trading it in around next baseball season instead of keeping it year round like 2k11.

If true ... I am surprised (well, not really, more like laughing) at the reception of this news ... yesterday we had some guys asking for 2k to take the game mode out since it was subject of constant hacking ... now we have guys trying to burn down the company because they seem to have done just that ... as usual, is a no win situation for 2k.

Not sure how this makes any sense.

You consider all the additions to modes like MyPlayer "fresh paint"?...see Maddens "Become a Superstar"...thats "fresh paint". I dont see how the improvements made here are minor, but hey....ill take that can of paint anyday..

I dont even understand how your cycle is "EAs model" in the first place...that sounds like every sports games model....update rosters, come up with new modes, (speaking of which, im confused as to how the Greatest mode only appeals to casual gamers) make gameplay and graphical improvements....what else is supposed to be done here? lol

You mean the removal of a mode that was highly unstable and filled with hacked players, and possible replaced it with a pay to play option on a optional mode that not alot of people actually play or play the way the mode was intended.

so if they took out crew, then there is NO EXCUSE not to have custom sliders available to their paying customers in My Player mode right? finally? bueller?

do we have confirmation yet wether sliders are in or out for MP?

This... if you really want MyPlayer Online to have an 'equal' playing field, than something needed to be done, due to the hacks, etc. I think while this looks like a 'bad' idea, I feel its best for the situation.

I couldn't stand doing MP online, now since there is an equal field and it should be better (hopefully better server stability, etc) I could see myself giving it a try... well as most of you know, when you do get a good game with 9 other like minded folks, its a f'ing blast.

Bottomline: To me its not that big of a deal to have it pay for play, as I believe it could enhance the experience. But I do see where some people would not like the idea. Overall though if pulled off correctly by 2k, they could expand upon this pay for play and create an actual MMO with MyPlayers.

Could you imagine having an MMO of MP (in a community setting) to where you could have 50-100+ friends all in the same league, vying for positions, teams, etc... the possibilities.

Again, hopefully 2k can fix/correct their online issues.

It's crazy huh..... U just can't please everybody.....

I can't lie, I LOVED the idea of crew mode...It COULD be awesome if u don't have hackers.... But if I gotta choose between playing against the hackers or not having the mode....I'll take not having it in the game... Why let them ruin the online gaming experience...? Like I said before, "I don't know what the HACKERS will do now, but I'll be enjoying my player mode and online association....."

Seems like all the hackers are the angry ones....well them AND the ps3 gamers....
