no more hopstep?

just downloaded the demo yesterday, i see 'Y' is now postup. is there no longer a hopstep button?

yep its true. no more hop step button. I hate how 2k gives features and then just randomly takes something else out. man i liked the hopstep button. Also the black top mode just keeps changing every freaking year instead of adding and building to it. is it disk space problems? who knows

i figured it was a 'shot stick' move now. i may have to learn to play with it, but i've been playing the old fashion way with the right stick controlling dribble moves.

All thats saying is hop step lay up not hop step. they force you into a a pump fake as well after you perform the move

that's because you're not holding it down

You're doing it wrong if you're pump faking

Ah so the hopstep is there by itself? Im talking about just hop stepping alone nothing else. no auto pump fake after or anything. just a manual hop step like 2k11. Are you able to hop step then smoothly go into a fade away without the pump fake animation?

Im glad they took that button out...felt a bit unnatural, although I miss doing that big behind stepback from the foul line to behind the arc with it lol that was fun...and the sig gathers were ugh...ima have fun with these escape dribbles tho

After you cross the free-throw line you can hopstep without a pumpfake or anything and then you can chain it into any other move you'd like.

If they removed the hop step from the real NBA and the NBA 2K series they would both be better games for it.

yeah, i'm not liking that they removed the hop step button...i know it was because they wanted to improve the post game...but why didn't they just get rid of that worthless "fake pass" button and use that as a hopstep button....the "fake pass" really serves no practical purpose...wooop-tee-dooo....i can make a guy look like he's faking a pass...the problem is that fake pass doesn't actually do anything...it's a complete waste of controller real estate. at least the hop step is a functional move that actually helps you by creating space. I know you can still do hopsteps with the right stick, but they aren't nearly as easy to pull off consistently as with the hopstep button...especially if you want to hopstep backwards out of a sizeup or something like that.

They took it out because it was partially overpowered and because it felt unnatural and evidently lack the smooth feel the game now aims ... glad to see it under the stick moves ... way more natural and way less overpowered.

Couldn't disagree more. I love having the fake pass button because it comes in very handy against a few friends of mine who are very adept at jumping my passes and getting steals.

I'm glad 2k is making it harder to hop step. It was the most overabused move used online last year. The Y button in general has been abused for years in 2k basketball. I'm glad they changed it to where if you try and use it all the time, you'll really have to master it, which some will. No more tapping Y and waiting for me to jump. I hated that with a passion.
