It sounds good, but they left out a bunch of things for league admins. Are ALL sliders still customizable? Last year there were no foul sliders for online leagues. Can you edit players? ETC ETC

Oh yeah on a final note, the core base IS changing.

Re: NBA 2K12 Developer Insight #13 - Online Assocation

With just a matter of days until NBA 2K12 arrives the details on the new Online Association mode have finally arrived. Online Association essentially takes the standard offline franchise mode to a multi-user environment allowing for the possibility of all teams being controlled while those that aren't are handled by the CPU. Users can participate

There are a number of options available – from choosing a private or public league to the settings. Seasons can be designated with 14/29/58/82 games, quarter length, difficulty, and advancement pace are all adjustable. It does not appear that there are any sliders in Online Association as it has not been mentioned. Transactions can be handed through the console or on the website launching next week.

The idea behind the advancement period is one that will work for some people and not others. It reduces flexibility in how a league will move forward – automatically simming any uncompleted games when the timer runs out. That may provide motivation for owners or it could lead others to quit when they are unable to get their game/s in on time and find them simmed. While it will keep things moving along it also will prevent a league from speeding through more briskly. Better would have been an additional option for the commish to “delay” advancement or progress to the next stage early. The flex scheduling however is clearly beneficial in that it provides more opportunity to play games within the designated period especially if the league is user-heavy.
Thankfully we don't have to do 82 game seasons. Though 14/29 will only give the ability to play another user once (presuming 14 = 1x conference opposition, 29 = 1x league)

This is awesome news. I can not stress enough I much I hated online leagues. I don't mind playing against the computer, I just want a season format just like NCAA Football. This game was already on my radar, but this turns it into a must buy. Well, once the lockout is over anyway. :o

I have never really played hoops games online but I am interested in giving the mode a try. I have concerns about what commish function are available for advancing. I can see players getting annoyed and quitting if games are simmed because they can not get a time set up to play an opponet. I wonder if the commish would be able to set an auto-pilot, delay advance or use manual advance instead of a preset advance time. A preset auto-advance would cause a lot of problems in larger leagues. I could see people getting pretty upset if they were unable to get playoff games in because an AWOL opponet. Hopefully there are some decent tools that make the leagues maintainable and interesting. If not a league with just a buddy or two would be a blast and easily maintainable. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

This is going to sound insulting but it's not... I am genuinely curious, do you offline gamers have any friends? I ask because when u all mention online it's always about cheesers... Well if u have friends or family who play this game then this is easily the best thing to happen to sports video games since the analog stick!!! I have 5 buddy's who are all about to join me in a NBA utopia where we get to pretend to be g.m. And superstars simultaneously!

If that does not excite u, then u either don't like basketball or don't have friends. In either case, my player mode sounds like your 2ktopia. Have fun with that, but please chill with the negative Nancy responses. Sheesh

The cpu also will never be as dumb, petty, obnoxious, racist (some), etc. as a human can be - it goes both ways; that's why a lot of people don't play online. I'm not a big online player but looking forward to getting into online more and trying this out.

And why is it now people need every single thing explained or they'll assume the worst? Just because they're not mentioning every improvement doesn't mean those areas of the game were ignored.
