Re: FIFA 12 Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I have made it clear that a futbol game has to make me feel like I felt when I played and coached. Well, obviously it can't be duplicated. After all, its a video game. But, I want to FEEL certain things.
I've posted here that I love many aspects of FIFA but had one really nagging issue that basically makes the game unplayable. That is the fact that the cpu does not change formation and tactics as it should.
For instance, I had more than one game where i would have a 1 goal lead with under 10 minutes left to play and the cpu never changed formation, never pulled a defender to add an attacker, never even pushed the lines up, never even changed shape, showed no urgency.
Well, in fairness I'd like to say I have 3 different times been in the same situation with PES12 and had the cpu fail to do those things as well. But, I'm almost certain it did last year.
I posted over there but wanted to post here so you guys know I'm straight up no matter what the game.
Anyway, is there any chance that anything can be done to induce the cpu to get the heck out of a 4-4-2 when down a goal late? Maybe a developer can answer that. I mean, what the heck good does it to have a 4 man back line when you're down a goal?
I'm still searching

Check this out:
2nd Group Stage Game against Egypt
Despite only 4 shots for me in the 1st half, I'm up 2-0
At the half I double check Egypts lineup to see nothing has changed.
Second half whistle blows and immediately Egypt makes a sub. I wait for the sub to come on then go back to the game plan screen.
Egypt dropped one of there 2 defensive mids and brought on a striker.
Now, they have 3 attackers right up in my keepers face. YAY!
Plus, they pushed 3 midfielders way up below the circle at midfield.

What is with the slow load times on the team management in-game menu and constant signing me out of the servers? Awful.
Other than that (and lack of fouls and CPU not changing tactics) solid game."Hard work beats talent, when talent isn't working hard.”Comment

I have no idea how to score in this game.
I think I need to get used to shooting when I'm in the box. Get too cute.
This game is awesome when you put some passes together in the box.Too Old To Game Club

Re: FIFA 12 Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I know there are a few who feel like they haven't been seeing enough tactical changes throughout a match, but I just played a great game that had me slack-jawed for some of it because of what the CPU was doing.
Played a quick game - 10 minute halves - Professional - Slow. LA Galaxy (me) vs. Portland Timbers (CPU).
I went up in the game early but then scored an own goal to tie the match for Portland. Game progressed as normal. They scored another. Kept going. Then they hit a third goal and went up 3-1. That's when things got cool.
Sensing that my defense was crap (because it was since I'm still trying to get used to the new system), Portland went on the offensive. As soon as they got the ball back after their 3rd goal, they pushed and pushed hard. Really felt like they were going for the kill shot. Once they gave up possession, they settled back in for a bit - setting up a firmer back line than they had all game.
But then they brought on another striker (giving them a total of 3) and went for it again. Again, I had to fight them off and really felt the pressure. I was able to get the ball back, held possession for a while (something I didn't do a great job of earlier in the game) and the CPU basically set up a brick wall. I had the ball, but couldn't do anything with it. They gave up a gimme goal at the end, but they had clearly won the match by that point.
Was pretty cool to see the back and forth and the on the fly changes that the CPU was making. I never adjusted my tactics as I was too busy being giddy that the CPU had done what they did.
I think the lower level teams seem to behave differently (and this has been the case in previous FIFAs as well). There's more variety in the play, more tactical things being played out. The top-ranked teams play a game of perfection which is why you see the lack of fouls, the apparent lack of tactical changes, etc. The changes may be there, but are definitely more noticeable on the lower league games I have played.Comment

Not sure if you guys have played with or against Villa yet, but Alan Smith tells you before the game with Villa, he openly acknowledges that he is a Villa fan and will be pulling for them today.

Re: FIFA 12 Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I've seen some glitches, but compared to all the realism I've seen so far, it does not matter at all to me. Had one incident, a counter-attack late in the game, where I was one-on-one against the keeper and then -- out of the blue -- my striker grabs his hamstring. It was unfortunate for me as I didn't end up scoring, but it looked very realistic.
About the defense, I still need to learn the contain people and not be too aggressive, most of the goals I've given up has been because I've tried to use the tackle button at the wrong moment.
And I like the new commentary team and the small stories they tell from time to time - in particular during one game, both commentators wandered down memory lane for about a minute, just talking about old footy stories
Overall, I really like this game and cannot wait to try career mode.Comment

Seriously, other than not defending very well, will the AI ever make a mistake? Maybe a bad pass, a bad touch - anything??? There needs to be more HUMAN in the AI approach - it's just robotic at the moment.
Im trying hard to give this game a chance, but the glaring issues for the offline experience far outweigh the good small bits of game play that mimic its real life counter part.Comment

On plus though, in my Newcastle career mode have I have was able to draw 4 penalties in the first 5 games. 2 came in one game however those were the few fouls I have seen in games though.Comment

Players have amazing first touch in this game and I mean all players, I play in the Eredivisie in my Career mode and players can easily bring down some rocket longs balls down of one foot in stride. I have given up on the game though, I don't think I can find it in me to play it anymore. Also the game seriously lags for me at times offline, it totally ruins my experience along with the AI and the a few other issues.
