Redirects in front of the net for goals?

I've played about 30-35 games so far and seen about 5 or 6 redirects for goals. Since I play at a relatively fast game speed with high shot power, this got me wondering if maybe lowering these things would cause more redirects since the puck would be traveling slower and allowing more time for the CPU to try and redirect.

However, it could just be the same as it is now, only the animation will be slower.

Is anyone getting a lot of tipped-in goals?

I agree that it feels rare. I get a lot of sweet one timers in traffic and more than a few deflections off skates (both attacker and defender skates) resulting in goals, but yes, straight on deflections in front of the net feel rare.

i've only played 14 games in my BaGM and Bertuzzi himself has 5 deflection goals...he would have had 6 but one was waved off due to him "kicking" it in (although there was no kicking animation, but that's what the announcer said)...

anyway, i have game speed set to 3 if that helps you at all.

Thanks for the feedback, maybe someone will make some big discovery and find out if/how it's possible to achieve more.

I've also noticed that deflection goals seem very rare compared to both NHL 11 and NHL 10.

Aim the shot at a player in front of the net for more redirects. I have at least one every couple of games.

              Play as a BaP goalie......

You`ll see more crazy deflections than you`ll care to.
That`s when you`re not getting gooned every 2 minutes.

Re: Redirects in front of the net for goals?

Yeah, in my limited offline goalie experience, deflections kill me. I'm OK on most shots and even screens/traffic, but if they get a piece of it... red light. That being said, it is nice to see them shoot more. If I had the time I would do a goalie BAP starting in the CHL.

As for regular offline play, if you want to see more deflections, shoot more wristers from the point. The big slappers are hard to handle, as they should be.

Re: Redirects in front of the net for goals?

When I have the possibility I usually go for a soft, low wrist shot... aiming for a player in front of the net. That gives me more redirects, but on the other hand since the shot isn't as hard as a slap shot, it doesn't go in very often. It was much more common in last years game.

But the slap shot pass on the other hand...
One of the coolest goals I've done in 12 was using the slap shot pass, which basically gives you a redirect ever time (if anyone's within reach).

                  - Load a slapper (right stick back)
                  - Aim in the exact direction you want to shoot (with left stick)
                  - Press R2/RT. (Do not use the right stick to shoot)

That'll give you the slap shot pass, and if there's anyone around they will try to deflect.

I did this the other week, aimed a good 4-5 feet on the side of the goal, and the center redirected the puck from going way off goal, into the net. Goalie had no chance at all.
Not only was it an incredibly sweet looking goal, but since you're free aiming and nailing it, you really feel good about it.

Re: Redirects in front of the net for goals?

In BaP I'm using a Power Forward and am constantly crashing the net. I usually have a few deflection attempts per game and have scored several goals this way. As far as the CPU deflecting shots, ehh...I guess I don't see quite as many.

Re: Redirects in front of the net for goals?

I've seen a good bit of deflections, but half of them aren't from my own players. I got a goal online as a defensive player on a one timer that was going away from the net, but it smacked off of their defensive player as if it hit a stick and it changed direction so drastically that the goalie couldn't get to it.

Personally, I think it's completely random. I don't think you lower the power would give you more redirect goals. Usually, I feel the harder the puck is hit, the more likely a ridiculous, unrealistic redirect shot is going to happen.

On earlier games you used Hold R1/RB while doing a slapshot and it had a similar effect.

This year its a bit harder to pull off, due to the more realistic loose puck while charging the slap shot/pass.
But it can be used in many different situations... a precise, hard dump or a precise clearing of the defensive zone... or as mentioned a really hard pass that's meant for redirecting. I've even tried to use it for cross crease passes, but it's to hard if it's that close.
