It's not a game killer by any means but between that and the NBA lockout preventing rookies and new rosters the game won't have the replay value 2K11 had. I only get to play the same 15 games over and over again in the Greatest Mode? I want to start a season but I'm not even sure how I will approach that this year unless the lockout ends soon.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game. It just baffles me why they would away something so many of us look forward to every year. I'm hoping a patch might fix this. I'll still play this game and love it but not being able to move legends knocked it down a notch or two for me.
i'm sure somebody already posted this, but there IS a way to move Legends around...so you can create all kinds of fantasy madness if you want..just a little more work than last year

      COMPLAINTS:

      (1) Granted, the graphics & game play have been improved compared to NBA 2k11, however, I don't believe the change was anywhere near what many 2k fans were expecting or as 2k sports was claiming. I mean, has anyone else noticed the difference between the photos advertised and the actual in-game characters?

      (2) It was great that 2K expanded on the historic rosters (which made NBA 2k11 so great)...BUT, to give us all these legendary teams, and yet place so many restrictions on what you can do with them is just a big let down. By restrictions, I'm referring to not being able to customize legendary teams (e.g., assign or trade legends to current or other historic teams.)

      (3) Moreover, not being able to use legends in the "create a team" mode was, again...a big upset. I mean something like this just seems so obvious to me, that I cannot understand why 2K sports would not allow users to customize the rosters (retro rosters) or create teams using legendary players.

***Now with respect to my complaints regarding the restrictions on trading/assigning/ or creating a team with legends....Whoever @ 2k sports thought that this would be okay, should be fired ! I mean, what kind of idiots do you have working there ? I almost feel like I got ripped off. 2k sports totally misrepresented the game...Making it seem like you can use these legends in all modes and blah, blah, blah.. (I read somewhere that you can customize the legendary rosters by starting a season mode, and exporting rosters... I mean ARE THEY SERIOUS with that ! That is not an acceptable solution for me or for many others I’m sure....That is f-ing ridiculous.)

      (4) Why is there so many limitations with editing players (both current and retro)? For as long as I can remember, 2k has not allowed users to customize items, such as the length of player's shorts, or sock colors...WTF??? Does that piss anybody else off? I mean these players have shorts down to their ankles...It looks silly to me. The players’ uniforms should look like they actually fit the players.

      (5) Lastly, why would 2K remove the Jordan sneakers?! That was so cool (except for the problem with setting up the color ways, which stunk)…2k sports adds all these bullsh*t sneakers to replace the Air Jordans of last year (and by Air Jordans, I’m referring to the real Jordan sneakers, e.g., I-XVI…not the rest of the garbage sneakers they added). And 2K, when you do add sneakers to the game, do it right! To the people at 2k, its quality you want to focus on….not quantity (unless ofcourse you can do both).

***I’m sure these comments won't get me anywhere, but I am hoping that maybe 2K sports will actually read some of these comments and take some pointers. I’m just really annoyed with 2K sports right now. I hate to mention EA sports because their graphics and game play was cheesy in the past, but they sure did have some great ideas integrated in their games.

***2K sports should really consider creating a patch that would allow customization of rosters (both retro and current)…That’s the least they can do! In the meantime though, I will post this comment in as many threads as I can, and hopefully prevent consumers from being deceived by 2K sports.

***To 2K…Try being honest with the marketing of your products. If you want to remove something from your game, then give people fair notice, instead of having us purchase the game, and realizing this afterwards.
I thought this was well written and on point. Not to mention the only way to use legends online is to purchase DLC. The game is fantastic but to the OP's point 2K put major emphasis on the legends then restricted what we can do with them. Not a good deal especially if the lockout doesnt end and we are stuck with last years rosters.
      What?

Does anyone else play My Player mode??? For me, this is the main reason i buy NBA 2k. And i am disappointed, AGAIN. Since 2k10, My Player has been gettin worse and more frustrating (to think, its supposed to get BETTER).
        1. My CPU teammates r terrible, whether i play on Hall Of Fame or Rookie. They just suck completely. Im only into my 4th game and i have to carry the load for my team (Golden State Warriors). Let me remind you that I am a Rookie, rated 61, coming off of the bench and i only play about 8 mins a game. So if i dont lead the way, we lose. WTF
        2. The opposing CPU is UNSTOPPABLE. Trying to defend them is hard enough due to barely being able to control my own player. But they make every single shot. i mean, c'mon. I know its NBA but seriously. They get 50 three pointers a game, 30 And-One's, etc.
        3. Idk why they decided to add this 'bumping off of defenders' thing, because now i cant even run a play without gettin stuck on defender. I even get stuck in the key and called for a 3 sec violation, all because my defender has a vacuum for a chest. Please get this horrible animation off, its just plain stupid. Definitely ruins my experience. I finally just gave up and went to Create A Legend (with LeBron). Same problems as listed above (and more), though. But at least he isnt rated 61 like my created player.
I can keep going on and on but I will stop there. I hope an update wont ruin the whole My Player like the update for 2k11(im praying). 2k12 is a great improvemt tho, and thanks to Sliders i can play it without gettin pissed off as i did with 2k11. I only play head to head, since online play is very slow and delays horribly.

I guess the only gripe I have is, why can't you assign dunk packages to players that have them made for them?

For example, a lot of people may not know Derrick Rose has a dunk package, but because his dunk rating is an 84 and not 85 (Come on 2K, one point?), you can't assign his dunk package unless you bump it up to 85.

This is the same for Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant. I can understand not giving Vince Carter his package, but why make a package if you're not gonna assign it to the right player?

you are right, technically. But why use this an as excuse to not berate 2k/vc for taking large steps backwards in nearly every department outside of 'The greatest' mode and actual gameplay.
I mean, you could actually do this last year without using a tricky exploit.

The dunk package glitch mentioned by J Smoov is reminiscent of 2k9 or 2k10, fortunately it was patched and you could assign dunk packages to nearly anyone who could dunk in game. Regardless of player height too.

Now, despite mostly polished gameplay (see: 3pt shooting and passing reminiscent of 2k9/2k10), everything outside of actually playing the game severely lacks polish. 2 steps forward
one step backwards has never felt so applicable when talking about a videogame.

I wanted to start a new thread in the forums but decided against it, but i'll post the idea here

To All OS'ers saying 'this is the best 2k ever' (thread title)

                Rly?

                (end)

                Really rly!

I'm so heartbroken right now. Can't wait for the full version of 2k12 to be released.

So NBA 2k12 and TES V are now the biggest upcomming releases on my videogame calender.
Enjoy "the greatest' my sim nation brethren!
Ignorance of evidence is evidence of ignorance...

This is why i never before joined a forum until (wednesday, oct. 5)...because of stupid losers like yourself. You go threw these forums looking to comment on peoples' comments rather than focus on offering constructive criticism to the companies producing these games. Either (a) you're looking for friends because you can't make any outside the virtual world, or (b) you like to talk **** over the internet because you no i cant find you and just kick the **** out of you. Im done with this forum bull**** !! I don't have patience for people like you. I have a life you f*ccin virgin. have fun posting b*itch!

Uh.... anyway. The gameplay is great! The AI is tough & plays smart. My complaints involve losng things that were in 11. Substitutions are so tough! That & the restrictions on the legends are my big complaints. Good game otherwise.

A shame that 2K comes very close to being awesome but seems to devote so much more time and money to advertising than on the product itself.
That's your opinion. I agree this game has more problems than we anticipated, but it's still a damn good game. The gameplay is the best from an NBA game to date.

My big gripes are My Player and online. MP was too hyped to be shipped with these issues and online is just starting to get annoying. I don't remember the last year online worked.

Regardless though, this is still better than 2K11.

IAs many praises that this game has recieved you would think Jesus made this game. I unfortunately don't share the same love for 2k12. This game is overated. I basically only care about gameplay and I have to say that 12 is a step down. As I play the game more the controls are becoming more natural, but 2k11 handled better in my opinion. When I play online I'm often scared that I will destroy my controller trying to stay in front of a ball handler or contest a shot. You have to press the button you need 3 sec before you actually need it. I couldn't rate this game higher than a 8.

The game play is so realistic and you have people complaining about certain things.

                              1. If you are a back peddling and the ball handler stops on a dime to take a jump shot and you try to contest a shot, like in real life there will be a delay on the defender jumping up to contest a shot becuase he will have to gather himself from back peddling.

                              2. there is a small window on trying to make a pass when there is a pick and role in real life, so trying to make the pass on the actual game is more realistic.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respects everyone thoughts, I'm just trying to give some input on how the devs at 2K thought about the game

Only thing that got better with this game is the graphics. Everything else took a step backwards. The legend garbage they sold us is just that....garbage.
