PuntNL's NBA 2K12 Pro Sim Sliders

PUNTNL'S NBA 2K12 PRO SIM SLIDERS

    LATEST UPDATE: December 28, 2011 - v5 (post-patch 1.04)

Sliders available on 2K Share for PS3: PuntNL's Pro Sliders v5 (username: PuntNL)

A new NBA 2K, so a new year of slider madness. Although 2K is doing a better job every year I will probably always keep on adjusting the out of the box slider sets to a certain extent.

My goal is to get an enjoyable and realistic game of basketball (with as realisitic as possible stats). As most of you guys who have followed me in the past years probably know my theory has always been to make as few adjustments as possible and to try to not hit any sliders into the exteme values (0 and 100). For 2K12 it is looking that this year this may really work.

Sliders are tested with the official 2K rosters.

    Gameplay
    Difficulty: Pro
Game Style: Custom (start with default as a base for adjusting the sliders mentioned below)
    Game Speed: 50
Quarter Length: 10-12 minutes (depending your style of play)
    Fatigue: On
    Injuries: On
    Clutch factor: On
    Shooting type: Real player %
FT Shooting type: Real player %
    FT difficulty: 50

    Controller Settings
    Defensive Assist Strength: 100

Select default gamestyle and than adjust the sliders mentioned below, so everything else remains on 50. If only one value is stated this value applies to both user and cpu, if two values are stated the 1st value is for the user and the 2nd for the cpu.

Between the (purple brackets) some adjustments for the more skilled NBA 2K players.

    Offense
    Inside Shot: 48 (48/49)
    Close Shot: 48 (48/49)
    Mid Range: 51 (51/52)
    3 Pt: 51
    Dunks in traffic: 45
    Pass accuracy: 49
    Contact shot: 48

    Defense
    Driving contact shot freq: 20
    Inside contact shot freq: 80
    Steal Success: 48

    Attributes
    Quickness: 40
    Vertical: 40
    Stamina: 45
    On-ball Defense: 40 (40/50)
    Consistency: 40
    Clutch Factor: 40

    Tendencies
    Mid Range: 60
    3 point: 40
    Look for post player: 70
    Playing passing lanes: 42
Go for on ball steals: 40

    Fouls
    Over the back: 60
    Charging: 70
    Blocking: 70
    Reaching: 60
    Shooting: 70
    Loose Ball: 60

Full-time stats of Celtics (CPU) @ Knicks (User) on v3.0 (11 minute quarters)

Half-time stats of Clippers (CPU) @ Knicks (User) on v2.0 (11 minute quarters)

Here we go again :-) Let the good times roll. Things looking nice already out of the box on sim, but some tweaking will still be needed (if you ask me). v0.1 is a very preliminary set (after a weekend of play), but would like to hear some experiences from you guys, with this set or just in general with 2K12. Where do you think the focus should be?

Loved your sliders for 2K11, so I'm going to try these out.
Been getting pretty good games @ PRO so I'm happy to see that your sliders are for that level also.

Punt I loved 2k11 with your sliders and have not bought the new game yet. I was perfectly satified with 11 and had planned on not getting this game but I've read its a big improvement. Do you agree? Is this worth a purchase cuz the football games as always suck so Im debating whether or not to make the move.

I enjoy the philosophy of Punts slider sets. One thing I'm encouraging while using them is that players fatigue levels never actually go below 4 in a quarter. If we're using "rotation" I guess that doesn't matter.

Used your sliders in 2k11 and absolutely loved them.
Hopefully I will get the same results with these.

Is there a way to just drop steals to 0 and lower the CPU's shooting % for a good balanced game? Honestly, I know how to play basketball. As a matter of fact, I'm really good in real life. I can't seem to understand why it's difficult to pass the ball unless it's stolen all the time. The computer seems to think they're on the fire all the time. They can drop wide open shots but I can't. This doesn't make sense.

                Hello Punt.

I'm using your sliders as a base and I started playing from the PRO level to get a hang of the game. I like your approach and I'll try to change less sliders as possible, but so far they play good on PRO. I lowered ON BALL D to 55 and changed some foul sliders. I'll play some games to gather stats and see what happens.

                Thanks!

Re: PuntNL's NBA 2K12 Pro Sim Sliders

                  T. Wolves vs 95-96 Bulls.

                  Wolves 73
                  Bulls 70

Jordan was nowhere to be seen. Every wide open shot missed. He couldn't find separation from his defender. The wolves were 100% with open shots including 3's while the Bulls struggled all game long. Most of the points were scored at the free throw line and inside buckets and lucky shots.

Overall, the momentum of NBA2k12 is by far the worse I've seen in sports period. The animation is broken and no matter what you do with sliders it's impossible to drive or set your feet to shoot.

This game should have been a blow out by the Bulls. Figured I use one of the worse teams in the NBA vs the Greatest of all time.

Thanks for the support guys. My updates will be mainy in the weekends as I am very busy during the weeks. Got some games in and 3pt shooting is probably still on the high side, also the amount of 3pt attempts is pretty high. Seeing some crazy help D from my teammates which is causing a lot of open looks. Anyone else seeing this with v0.1?

One of my games on v0.1 Nets @ Knicks (me)

Amount of 3pt shots high for cpu, because of a lot of useless help D. Late game fouling mad my amount of FTs on the high side. Liking the amount of offensive rebounds compared to 2k11.

I can confirm what you've written Punt. 3PT are always a bit high and the CPU uses a lot the in-and-out to shoot 3s. The amount is not huge, but CPU does it everytime the D is loose. And yes, often against very good 3pt shooters defense is not tight enough, because the defender sag the shooter off the help defense in the paint. I mean, this is basketball and it's ok, but in the game it's a bit excessive.

I had a blast with your sliders last year and I played my first game with these new.

Here is the result (I was playing the Bulls) :

I'll keep posting every game stats if it can help.

Really enjoying these sliders so far. They play well in user vs. user games as well. Not as loose as default pro but not as locked down as pro sim. Nice balance imo.

Good sliders but the number of 3pt shots taken is still ridiculous.
