If the next consoles can do that, which they should be able to. And true HD resolutions and not sub up-scaled, then it will be a large graphical jump.

Yep, I'm with you two. I remember playing CoD2 and thinking "man this looks so awesome." Now if I go back to that game is nowhere near impressive.

The PC will still probably stay ahead of them, but it will definitely be a jump imo.

Also I agree with GMSS. Definitely need to see a lot more RAM in the systems. Would help out a ton!

I'm with Enigma. We'll definitely see graphical improvements. There is a ton of room for improvements in graphics on any console game. Crysis and BF3 maxed out on the PC show what graphics can look like now with good tech.

Re: Report: New Xbox to Launch in 2013

The way they are already "holding back" content on these systems means it will be less content available day 1 and more expensive content available later....map packs, gun packs, car packs, fighter packs..all extra content built during the dev cycle for 10 bucks to add on a 80 dollar game stripped on purpose game [they do this now, too]

So, many ppl worrying about DLC but not making Day 1 the best it can be. This annoys me greatly about where gaming is headed. All they will do is talk about...we dont know the hardware, dev cycle becoming more expensive...but whatx funny, after all these yrs...Day 1 content is still declining and being separated between gamers...which is horrible.

So why not use these systems to pack on the day 1 content...fhe in game options...game types...features..instead of going to the expensive barebone look good games......If you give me a game w/ 15 maps day 1, you wont have to offer DLC soon...you may have more ppl buying the game and playing the game over time.....than "Oh, this gm has 6 maps...but we'll offer more as DLC"...by the time that comes...no one is playing the game anymore and being their will be less ppl with the DLC, its not worth it.

This generation of consoles will be 10yr consoles for me. The systems aren't holding developers back IMO...its the directions they are trying go...

We still have a long way to go. Games don't yet look like what Pixar offers in theaters, or what Avatar looks like. Maybe character models are peaking much more quickly than other things, but environments could definitely improve.

You also mentioned things cleaning up. We have a long way to go to get full anti-aliasing, 60+ FPS, proper lighting and cell shading, etc. in all aspects of the game (oh, and 1080p of course).

No one is saying this generation's graphics are poor, but I can't see why the jump can't be huge once again.

If the hardware is better, than you will see better graphics. Right now what games are developed @ a FULL 1080P with 4xAA & running @ a steady 60fps? Imagine every game you buy running in that manner.

Re: Report: New Xbox to Launch in 2013

The media the games arrive on needs to change or how the games are installed. Load times are old fashioned and need to go away. The more data they put on the discs the longer it will take to load (presumably). So unless they can expedite read times on the discs in some way, installing games to the hard drive completely might be the way to go. Essentially im asking them to make a PC console hyrbrid thing...

I do not believe it will be for the "next gen" machines.

They would not show a trailer for that (this early) for the "next gen" before both companies (Sony/MSFT) even announce their existence to the world.

Sony or MSFT themselves would launch their announcement at the conference with a trailer themselves.

GTAV will be on the 360/PS3 and WiiU (ported). This is something they have been working on since GTAIV shipped. And there is plenty of life left in these consoles.

GTAVI 2 years in these next gen consoles max.

I can only imagine how bad the football games will be in 2013....they weren't even able to get things figured out for the 360 yet, a new system is going to be disaster for sports games.

I'm going to be optimistic, and hope they nail them out of the gate.

I'm going to have my 360 and PS3 for a couple of years after 2013. I'm in no rush.

I would have agreed, but I have been playing the RE remakes on XBL and omg those games don't look nearly as great as I remember them.

Have you played Witcher 2 on PC? Or seen how Skyrim is shaping up. The level of detail will be incredible.

Think about Madden with full sidelines, the devil is gonna be in the details.
