The Hot Stove League Thread
Figured it's time to start a thread where we can discuss all the trades, signings, a rumors for the offseason.Tags: None -
Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Grady Sizemore's $9mil option was declined today so he's a free agent, and we picked up Fausto Carmona's $7mil option.
I hope Grady does well wherever he ends up. I fully expect him to sign elsewhere and return to his 2008 form and tear it up for the next 5 years.Browns

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
No doubt, but it seems as if that knee of his is made out of paper clips and bubble gum. I heard that he's going back to the doctor that did his micro fracture surgery for something, which isn't a good sign. It's a shame, I always liked (and still do) Grady, he's one of the ultimate "what if" players.Browns

And he's going to be, at absolute best, our 4 starter. Plus it frees us up to trade some other pieces to fix the outfield.Too Old To Game Club

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Braves were able to save $5 million of the $15 million. Jones was the #70 prospect for the Indians, so probably nothing special.
The Atlanta Braves have traded Derek Lowe to the Cleveland Indians, sources tell ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.
Lowe was traded for left-handed pitching prospect Chris Jones, a source familiar with the trade told Olney.
The Braves are eating all but $5 million of the $15 million remaining on the last year of Lowe's contract, sources told Olney.
Lowe went 9-17 with a 5.05 ERA in 34 appearances for the Braves in 2011. The 15-year veteran right-hander has a career record of 166-146 with a 3.94 ERA.

The Orioles are likely going to name Tony LaCava GM sometime today...he's in Baltimore meeting with Angelos today. I'm a big fan of the hire.Comment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Tony LaRussa retired today and there are going to be a ton of people that will try and tie that into Pujols leaving St. Louis. But Pujols was/is going to sign a 7-8 year contract and LaRussa was only going to stay 1-2 years max after this year (before his decision to retire).Comment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
The Cubs picked up Ramirez and his 16m option, but he declined and will become a free agent.
I really think the Tigers are going to push hard for Aramis Ramirez. It sounds like they had all but got a deal for him at the deadline before he decided to stay put in Chicago. That's what Dave Dombrowski hinted at when the deadline passed. He said something like "We were very close to getting an NL Third basemen..high profile player..but the other side backed out." Only Ramirez fit that description.
If they were willing to trade good prospects for him, throwing some money at hime will be a no brainer for the Tigers. They have a lot of money off the payroll, and want to add more and more, whatever it takes. Hopefully something like 2 years 25 million could get him to leave Chicago.
Also Sabathia opted out...I think Texas is going to go all out for him. He's the type of guy Nolan Ryan loves.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
And about Lowe...he had a 5 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in the NL. He's 38. And now going to the AL? You really can't expect much from him. He's been so bad since leaving LA.
Jimenez, Carmona, Lowe.....The Tigers/Royals/Twins/White Sox are feeling good about next season.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment
