This game is simply button smashing ******ation...

The kind of behavior that is rewarded in nba 2k12 is beyond sad. Run at the ball handler and slap when you get blown by take the next man run at the ball handler and slap. If you get blown by dont worry because there is an exellent chance the man waiting will block the shot from anywhere. This is a viable defensive strategy due to sooo many factors its unreal.

    1. steal success rate
    2. unresponsive controls that make passing as dangerous as walking in a mine field.
    3. defenders flying in at warp speed to stop any layups or dunks

This is just one of dozens of play styles that should get you beat so bad you quit by halftime but instead its rewarded by a game that is simply awful on many levels

Then don't play against people like that.

Which is also found on playgrounds all across America and the world.

dont blame the game, blame the competition and your failure to adjust,;or simply dont play aginst those types of players.

on most play grounds theres usually 2 to 3 courts, one for scrubs and novices and one for the better skilled players. adopt those principles to online play.

You do realize that would require avoiding quick games altogether, because literally ever person I've played in a quick game has played like that. I'm 9-4 in Quick Games, so no, I'm not a sore loser that's complaining because I can't win.

No. But many of the people complaining will make it seem so.

I have to agree with the OP. Despite the latest patch, passing is still slow, unresponsive, and floaty online. (It's a bit better offline, though.) Defensive players are able to cover a lot of ground, plus they are able to move faster than both the ball and the offensive player in many instances. This bails out lowly skilled users by allowing them to get strong defensive teams, such as the Heat, and play lazy defense knowing that the patch changes will bail them out. When you add in the low foul tendencies and ice skating, you can see why this game is less about stick skills and basketball IQ and more about who can get their navigate with their star player the best.

You're either an Xbox 360 owner or you're playing a totally different game than I am. I just finished two back to back online games right before I typed this post.

I lost the first as the Rockets versus the Heat by like 14 or something. I won the second as the Lakers versus the Heat by 19. I'm 10-4 overall in quick games. I don't steal spam. I don't force shots. I don't run around the perimeter all day trying to penetrate the lane. I play patient, smart basketball. Unfortunately, this game is so fundamentally flawed since the latest patch, the same tactics that the patch were looking to address are still being used, albeit with less success than before. But because of the unresponsiveness of the controls now, coupled with the sliding, warping defenders and slowed shooting animations, players can play reckless defense and still have success.

2k11 I would beat little hyper active dorks like this so bad they would quit by halftime. Now its a joke I still win 2 out of 3 games but its a slap fest joke. Then every game the losing team mounts a CPU generated comeback. This game basically forces you to become a "cheeser" and play stupid basketball.

Is there usually an open man when they run up the court to steal the ball? If there is, just pass to them and drive to the hoop or put up a jumper.

The open man is the guy bringing the ball upcourt. Then they run another guy at you leaving someone open. So if the two steal attempts don't work you then can try to pass to the open man but the pass has a %50 percent chance of being stolen. Point being yes this leaves guys open but it is successful enough at causing turnovers that it actually works well. What should be happening is you get blown out for playing like a fool.

Oh I forgot to mention how every time they charge at you to attempt a steal they bump your man and cause a major hesitation that gives them all the time they need to switch guys and cover passing lanes as they charge you with the next man.

I've notice that too. So, while stealing is less effective, the strategy still is because it slows your ballhandler down, giving your opponent enough time to switch defenders or recover.
