Capital Invasion
The 2011 season was one of up and downs, mostly downs, for the Washington Redskins. They fielded one of the worst offenses in the league. They went through three quarterback, John Beck,Rex Grossman and Jonathan Crompton. They combined for 4,023 passing yards, nineteen touchdowns and 15 interceptions, three quarterback, Brees, Brady and Rodgers, have better stats alone. To accompany their horrid passing attack, they were dead last in rushing offense, running back Tim Hightower carried the ball 178 times for 647 yards and just three touchdowns.
There were bright spots, even on offense. Tight end Fred David came and filled in for the injured Cooley, recording 84 catches for 983 yards and six touchdowns. Receivers Leonard Hankerson and Anthony Armstrong had good years despite poor quarterback play. First pick Ryan Kerrigan won defensive rookie of the year with eleven and a half sack to go along with 122 tackles.
The Redskins have some young talent and are looking for a return to dominance. With the depart of Mike Shanahan almost certain, the Redskins look to turn around the franchise and bring a championship back to D.C.
Welcome to the Capital Invasion.
